Domestic sheds and garages are some of the most dangerous fires around. you never know what a home owner has hidden in them. LPG cylinders ,Petrol and any assortment of bad things. Great video, stay safe brothers and sisters.

Caution is the by-word with these things. That building and contents are already lost so there is no point risking injury or death. LPG bottles are OK as soon as you start looking them, petrol would already have ignited but the main problem are acetylene cylinders where the contents continue to decompose even on cooling. They continue to be dangerous for 12 hours.

What I find fascinating is the difference in equipment between Europe and the US/Canada. Their truck arrived and it seems as if the lines are ready to work in an instant. There is no wasted time at all putting water and retardant on the fire. It's so well done.

North America is behind quite drastically when it comes to equipment and tactics regarding firefighting. It seems that tradition and pride get in the way of progress and saving lives. For a developed country too many firefighters unnecessarily die in the USA.

@@PencilProper I think part of it also has to do with the fact that over here in NL structures are usually concrete and brick. As opposed to the US where even a 4 storey apartment complex can be made entirely of wood. So fire is much more likely to cause structural damage and make a building much more dangerous to enter.

Yes, the driver only has to turn on the pump, all engines carry between 1500 and 5000 liters of water. The black hose reel is high pressure, and is ready to attack the fire, and can also used with foam.

Yes you're so right, i'm volunteer fireman in NY for 40 years and we take much time dropping hose for hydrant hookup and pulling attack lines off the rig and then we need to hookup to discharge port. Yea it's a time delay for sure. Like chris says it looks like we're behind the times. These guys go to work as soon as they get there and get water on fire. In my department we'd have two engines, ladder and rescue on scene. They doing the job with one truck and a crew.

Well in my opnion the firefighters from the Usa, got different protocols and education. Different houses a lot more wood then stone. And there is a lot off volunteer firefighters that are trained differently then the regular firefighters. Also, the basic helmet in the usa doesnt give much protection from the sides, and in small spaces its hard to move your head upside down bc of the form and shape off the helmet.

@@fire247 Yeah I hear the next fire apparatus inside the movie. Here in Germany all fire apparatus build a red train and around 5 vehicle drive along in the right position. In the U.S.A. they make a race and sure the smallest light vehicle is the winner all time - not the fire apparatus (e.g. tanker, ladder) what should be at this position in front of the fire. They not use light-hose-line same you - fast with build-in foam mixer too. Do you can see in the comments (where they use this technique) that they hated it then they believe only water can stop fire. Yeah really stupid. But here - I not see a burning tree!

We use it very often, because it’s quick and we can last a long time on a full tank of water. However when the watersupply is ready, we switch to water. Our new trucks will not be equipped with cafs. It’s an expensive foam and environmental its challenging.
