Dusty Tales - Why the Deuce?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

As a Deuce owner, the question comes up from time to time, Why the Deuce? I have looked all over the web and found on theories on the the subject. So I took a poll on several Deuce owners group pages on facebook, and these are the results. Theories, mind you.

Hi 👋, I am new to your Deuce family shop, 😅 I purchased mine back in 1999/2000. I had spent a lot on it, the best thing ever I done to it was brought an exhaust system which I believe the name was Boom Can it sure was, it was a limited addition from downtown Seattle, Harley Davison, I believe for a custom bike, and I was the only person outside the US at the time that I’ve managed to purchase one, it was a 2-1 exhaust system, I was living in the Uk at the time, in the 2000s, I have been to a lot of European rallies, I was coming out of London one time a person in my Aston Martin pulled up alongside me and said you have been to St Tropez Harley Davidson rally and I said yes we had a long chat, I had nickname as bald eagle, my Harley jacket has got embossed in the back of a eagle, which has been painted by an artist in Lake Garda, Italy, a few years previous when I was riding another bike obviously a Harley, 1200 s , and FXR 1350 , I had to sell it in 2019, due to being scammed by my female ex partner, it feels like somebody has removed a limb off of my body, When I sold it had over 55,000 miles on the clock, unlike her, it never let me Down. I always gave it 110%. It was service regularly., so when you put your faith in something or somebody, you should get respect and trust back, loyalty and faith, . I was always 110% faithful to my bike and my partner, I am now 71 years young dude, and I don’t know if I can ever afford one again, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE. RIDE SAFE OVER ONE ☝️.

I've had my 2003 Deuce since new. The stretched tank, the drag style rear fender, big wheel (for a factory bike in the early 2000's) disk rear, raked forks, it's a classic IMO. The fuel injected and counter-balanced engine is an absolute gem. The counterbalancing allows for solid motor mounts, which makes this long and low bike handle far better than it should. I put a Progressive air suspension in back and raised the ride height up, and this thing can really boogie on curvy country roads. A very under appreciated and often overlooked model.

Well, from the 1968 movie "2001 space odyssee" till the Prince song "party like its 1999", everybody was looking forward to the year 2000, also called 2K, or just 2. HD jumped on the 2K craze bandwagon, actually had a new V2 big twin engine with 2 cam shafts, modified the softail frame with wider fender struts to house a 2" wider rear tyre, put a 2" (or so) longer yet slim tank on top, fitted it with a Roulette design disc wheel as gambling reference, and called the new model Deuce.

I have a 05 Dues the only thing IV change was that big bulky seat for one that was a slimmer style that flows with the bike who ever own it before me install those shorty type of pipes they sprung good but even after heat wrapping they still will warm your thigh up.I do plan to find a set that will fit with the floorboards I installed other that I enjoy getting out and let her stretch her wing on the Hwy.

@@robertrosson1990 you do know Robert the bug bear with early twin Cam motors is the cam chain tensioners. If you do nothing else to your bike make sure you keep an eye on them because if they break up then it's usually no bueno for the motor. I put in S+S full works Gear Drive with 509G cams . I'm told some bikes lasted 90 /100,000 miles some crapped out at 10,000.

I sold my ultra classic and two of my roadking after the covid it was to heavy to handle at turning, After that I only kept my deuce and I figured I just need. Honda shadow 750 to ride on backroads and canyon's , not bad handles fine but my Harley deuce is the best handeling bike I can ever imagine, the power and the sound is phenomenal , the most enjoyable bike I can ever owned , besides the Java 350 two stroke 42years ago , I'm selling my Honda in a month with only 8 k miles on it but I will never sell or trade my Deuce .I know the Shadow is very reliable , runs great, & also sounds like a Japanese Farts, just no satisfaction after the Harley Deuce .

The frame backbone is not 2" longer. It uses the same frame as all other softail. The tank is 2" longer and has a spacer for the rear bolt. That said, I love my Deuce, it's the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.
