www.recordstoreday.com/Special...
In 1970, three brooklyn high school friends (Marc Bell, Kenny Aaronson and Richie Wise) started DUST. DUST has been sighted as being one of the first American Heavy Metal bands.
Dust:
Drummer - Marc Bell (who was later rechristened Marky Ramone, and would keep the beat for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame/Grammy Award-winning punk legends the Ramones)
Bassist - Kenny Aaronson (who has played with everyone from Bob Dylan to Joan Jett)
Singer/Guitarist - Richie Wise and Lyricist/Producer Kenny Kerner - both of which would form a production team, and produced Kiss' first two classic albums.

Kenny Aaronson, Mark Bell (Marky Ramone) and Ritchie Wise were my friends. When Kenny Aaronson invited me to the recording studio, Kenny Kerner told me how famous KISS would become. Kenny Aaronson invited me to the KISS concert. We limoed in backstage to the Garden, they had a great show with fireworks! Then at the after party, with a delicious buffet, I spoke to Gene (Sabra! Jewish) and Paul (Jewish) like myself and Kenny, all Jewish.

When 'DUST' album came out in 71, it was phenomenal and got the attention of a lot of rock music lovers. DUST was fresh, new original material unlike any other recording artists at that time. A three piece band where each member was so skilled and talented that the massive intricate sound that produced easily equaled Cream, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Black Sabbath and even Jimmy Hendrix Experience. Yes, That's right, It is true.

I was at a party with MICK JAGGER with my celebrity publicist, David Granoff. I went to see the Stones at the Garden with Ike & Tina. I drove home from Rick Derringer's concert with a member of Foreigner. In CA, carl taught me to drum. My good friend Carmine (of Rod Stewart fame) and Vinnie Appice (Rick Derringer, Black Sabbath & Axis). I did Vinnie's, Danny Johnson's and Jay's styling, make up and hair for their album when they formed Axis.

They were fu*king amazing. I started collecting records 15yrs ago and while at a record show I was immediately drawn to the cover art and seeing the name in those letters I was like fuck ya. Turned it over and saw the length of the songs the song titles how many tracks there were the label and the kicker being a three piece I knew it was going to be a score. I have been praising and telling people how friggin rad they were ever since. Wasn't even til years later I realized he was he drummer for the Ramones. What a down turn in playing. Good for him to cash in but what a contrast in every way from Dust to the Ramones. Keeny Aaronsons solo on suicide is to this day dope as fu*k and his song, the last track on the first album ? Is fu*king an amazing rock song made for the bass

Dust was mind blowing brain fry stuff when it came out... As vital as MC5, Blue Cheer, Mountain, Stooges and early B.O.C. The harder tracks had dang near the scalded ape intensity of Sir Lord Baltimore. Both of their albums are from a specific time and culture that's long gone. It's so *^%%$#!! weird to see the vibe Richie had going in the old photos compared to how he comes off as an older music producer in this clip, (kind of hard to believe). Fortunately the records are still around so anyone who wants to can still get off on em'!

Marky was an awesome drummer, very fast, precise and all over that drum kit producing a massive full sound. The bass play Kenny Aaronson is one of the finest bass guitarist rock has ever heard. Listen to 'Loose Goose' on the first Dust album. The lead guitar player, Richie Wise and lead vocalist and song writer was practically a one man band himself. Blazing, aggressive, smoking guitar riffs and a composer of melodic unforgettable songs.
