    Amazing videos, thank you very much! I especially love the inclusion of the PFD and ND now which really makes following the technical side of things extremely enjoyable. Really the only channel out there that includes all this. Thank you for the great content and I look forward to seeing more. Although landings are definitely more interesting, it would also be great to see a takeoff procedure once in a while. Lastly, I would also love to see closeup views of MCDU operations when they occur.

    Thanks for watching and your very detailed feedback! This helps a lot! As you already explained, landings are usually more interesting because the outside views in comparison to the takeoffs with the very high climb rate. But nevertheless, I will publish one or the other takeoff video in the future. Showing MCDU operations is also a good suggestion which I keep in mind. Please stay tuned. Have a nice day!

    Thank you, Keith! I will continue working on improvements of the quality of the PFD/ND part. I am also not 100 % happy about the way it looks now. For the time being, the best result in reading is available if you set the KZread resolution to the highest possible. The DME is then better readable, but there is room for improvement. I will continue working on that. It may just take some time until the results will be getting better. As always: Please stay tuned. All the best to you! Have a great day!

    Nice video as always ! Thanks What do you mean about the sequence of the flight panel and auto sequence ? I don't get it

  • @ApproachandDepartureVideos

    @ApproachandDepartureVideos

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank your for watching! We enter the expected or cleared routing and approach in the FMGS via the MCDU keyboard. When we overfly one waypoint, the FMGS sequences and navigates to the next waypoint. If we stop flying the preprogrammed routing and fly in accordance to radar vectors from ATC, we need to make sure that the FMGS follows us somehow and that at the end of the ATC vectors, the correct "To" waypoint is the active FMGS waypoint. If we would not do that, the "To" waypoint in the FMGS may be behind the airplane and in case of a go around, the airplane will not follow the stored missed approach routing. In this approach, we got radar vectors from ATC. This was a shortcut in regard to the FMGS routing. If we shortcut the routing by just a little bit, the FMGS usually understands that and auto sequences to the next waypoint. If not, we have to do this manually. I hope that helps a little bit to understand. Have a nice day!

    Clearly a hugely competent flight crew. I found nevertheless found it Interesting that at 16:00 the parking checklist responses were "on" and "off". I was expecting "affirm" and "negative." How do they guard against the known "onff" problem with such responses?

  • @ApproachandDepartureVideos

    @ApproachandDepartureVideos

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching and the friendly words! Checklists are in general designed by the airplane manufacturers and the operators. On and Off is used to state the status of systems. Affirm and Negative are usually not used in checklists. This is only used during radio communication with ATC. Reason is here that during the radio communications sometimes parts get lost or unclear over the air. This is not a problem during face to face communications in the cockpit. If there would be a problem like that in cockpit checklists, it - for sure - would be addressed by the airlines or Airbus. Have a good day!

    immer wieder interessant, wie niedrig die großen Flieger über uns kleinen VFR Fliegern sein können. Gerade wenn Luftraum C bis 2500 ft geht und die großen Flieger gerade einmal bei 3000ft sind. Wie Bsp. EDLE und Baldeneyer See. Aber wirklich sehr schöne Videos. ( Gerade von den Urlaubsdestinationen ) Innsbruck wäre mal interessant.

    Vielen Dank für Zuschauen und das gute Feedback! Ja, es gibt im Anflug auf Düsseldorf im Umfeld des Flughafens Essen-Mülheim manchmal nur 500 Fuß Abstand, was die Höhe betrifft. Das reicht aber und letztendlich ist der Luftraum ja für alle da. Und wenn sich jeder an die Regeln hält, gibt es keine Probleme. In Deutschland sind wir im übrigen sehr verwöhnt, was die Entzerrung von anfliegenden Flugzeugen an Verkehrsflughäfen betrifft. Fast überall läuft der Anflug durch Luftraum C und D, wo nur Flieger mit Freigabe sein dürfen. In den USA zum Beispiel ist das ganz anders. In New York oder Miami kann man ohne mit jemandem zu sprechen mit einem einmotorigen Flugzeug in über 7000 Fuß über den Platz oder durch den Anflug fliegen. Die anfliegenden Verkehrsflugzeuge müssen darauf achten und eventuell ausweichen.

    @@ApproachandDepartureVideos Dafür müssten die VFR Piloten aber wissen das IFR im ILS auf 3000 tatsächlich 500ft Abstand habt. Legal wäre es ja auch für VFR in E in 2400ft über den Baldeney See zu fliegen (selber schon gemacht) und die Großen könnten ja auch in 2600ft im LR Charlie auf EDDL anfliegen. Da könnte man durchaus schon Wirbelschleppen abbekommen. Gleiches Thema bei EDFZ und EDDF. Die Sendeantenne des WDR NW von BAM bei Velbert/Langenberg geht bis 1800ft. Und generell ist das Terrain bei Wuppertal fast 1000ft MSL. Da bleibt dann doch nur ein erstaunlich flacher Bereich in dem man sicher & legal unter C fliegen kann. Was natürlich das Kollisionsrisiko erhöht. Also immer gut aufpassen. Und hoffen das sich im Bereich Allgemeine Luftfahrt und ADS-B mal was tut.

    Vielen Dank für die Darstellung der Luftraumstruktur im Umfeld von Düsseldorf. Im Airbus bekommen wir von ATC oft Verkehrsinformationen bezüglich VFR-Luftverkehr, der sich im Umfeld unterhalb des Luftraums C befindet. Unser TCAS-System könnte dann mal eine Traffic-Information geben. Allerdings sollte es nicht zur einer Resolution Advisory kommen, wenn der VFR-Verkehr nicht über die Grenze des Luftraums C hinaussteigt. Manchmal lässt uns auch ATC nicht weiter sinken, weil ein Flugzeug der Allgemeinen Luftfahrt sehr dicht an der oberen Grenze des Luftraums C unterwegs ist. Für den Verkehr der Allgemeinen Luftfahrt besteht immer die Gefahr, Wirbelschleppen abzubekommen, wenn man in der Nähe von Verkehrsflugzeugen unterwegs ist. Bezüglich ADS-B ist Deutschland leider ein Entwicklungsland. In den USA ist in allen Flugzeugen, die in Lufträumen unterwegs sind, in denen sie vorher einen Transponder mit Höhenübermittlung haben mussten, nun ADS-B-Out vorgeschrieben. Das bedeutet, dass die Flugzeuge eine differential GPS Position ständig übertragen. Mit einem ADS-B-In Display im Cockpit oder im IPAD weiß man dann ganz genau, wo und in welcher Höhe die anderen Flugzeuge sind und vor allem auch in welche Richtung sie sich bewegen. Darüber hinaus stehen die Kennzeichen, die Geschwindigkeit und andere Informationen im Datensatz, der übertragen wird. Ich habe in den letzten Tagen in Florida in einem extrem dicht beflogenen Luftraum Trainingsflüge gemacht und weiß das extrem zu schätzen. Ich hoffe, dass irgendwann in Deutschland auch ein ADS-B-Out-Mandate kommt. Leider gibt es in Deutschland ja auch für Flughäfen wie Essen-Mülheim bis heute keinen GPS/RNAV-Anflug. In den USA gibt es das inzwischen an fast jedem auch noch so kleinen Flugplatz und ermöglicht der Allgemeinen Luftfahrt einen sicheren Flugbetrieb bei schlechtem Wetter. Auch ADS-B-Wetter ist ein tolles System, das es in Deutschland nicht gibt. Hier werden über eine Datenfrequenz unentwegt Wetter-Daten, Notams und Radarbilder ins Cockpit übertragen. Im Airbus haben wir ja ein eigenes Radar-System aber gerade für die Allgemeine Luftfahrt, die normalerweise kein Radar hat, wäre das eine große Hilfe.

    @@ApproachandDepartureVideos Definitiv Entwicklungsland. Auch an schönen Sommerwochenenden unterwegs zu den Nordseeinseln wäre ein ADS-B sehr von Vorteil. Weil auch FIS ist dann überlastet und kann keine Verkehrsmeldungen mehr geben. Manche haben noch Flarm, andere wieder nicht. Aber leider sind wir in der Hinsicht in Deutschland bisher nicht gut aufgestellt. Zum Anflug auf EDDL ( wirklich sehr spannend zu sehen, wenn man kurz hinter dem Baldeneyer See ist, grob zwischen 2000-2500 Fuß ist ( außerhalb des 1500ft C um EDLE und über einem sind die Linienflieger.( also quasi nordwestlich vom BAM gesehen ) Wobei ich noch nie das Gefühl hatte, dass es wirklich nur wenige hundert Fuß Höhe an Abstand waren. Aber eigentlich kenne ich auch keinen Piloten, der die Luftraumgrenzen auf den Fuß genau ausfliegt. Ich lasse in der Regel immer 300 Fuß Abstand. Und natürlich noch einmal DANKE für die schönen Landeanflüge

    @@1304stephan Vielen Dank nochmal für die Einblicke. ADS-B In und -Out für Traffic plus ADS-B Wetter, Notams und Infos über Sperrgebiete können einen Großteil der Arbeit von FIS ersetzten. Wie gesagt, in den USA klappt das großartig und ich hoffe, dass auch in Deutschland zukünftig mehr für die Allgemeine Luftfahrt in diesem Bereich getan wird. In den USA gab es sogar eine staatliche finanzielle Unterstützung für die Nachrüstung von ADS-B-Out. Alles Gute und "Always happy landings"

    Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und die Frage. Das FMGS vom Airbus hat ein wunderbar funktionierendes automatisches Speed-Management-System. Wenn man nicht Geschwindigkeiten fliegen muss, die von der Flugsicherung oder vom Flughafen aus Staffelungsgründen vorgegeben werden, kann man das sehr gut benutzen. Im Anflug setzt es automatisch die optimalen Geschwindigkeiten für die jeweiligen Klappenstellungen. Wenn in Landekonfiguration, errechnet es eine passende Anfluggeschwindigkeit, die je nach aktuellem Wind bzw. dem Wind, der vom Tower gemeldet und von uns ins FMGS eingegeben wurde, variiert. Die Geschwindigkeit ist dann "managed". Im Gegensatz zur "selected" Geschwindigkeit, wo wir selbst eine Geschwindigkeit von Hand einstellen. Ich hoffe, die Erklärung hilft ein wenig.

    Thanks for watching and your question! We only keep the autopilot on for landing when we do an approach in dense fog. In all other cases we have to land by hand. I usually switch the autopilot off at about 10 nautical miles final. Other pilots may do it at other points. When the autopilot is off, we usually keep the flightdirectors on. Their crossbars tell us what the flight management system suggests us to do to follow the ILS. Ideally, the FD bars are always almost centered. Sometimes we switch off the FDs and do a "raw data ILS approach". That means, no autopilot, no flightdirectors. Just the CDI scale of the instrument landing system. In addition there are the PAPI lights. Problem with them is that often the 3 degree glideslope does not show the PAPI exactly centered (2 red and 2 white) A good rule of thumb for the approach is to keep the descent rate under good control. Groundspeed x 5 or Groundspeed half is the required descent rate for a 3 degree approach. If the ground speed is 140 kts, the descent rate has to be at about 700 feet per minute for a 3 degree approach. That would keep the glideslope centered. On big transport category airplanes, rudder is only used for engine out situations or for a crosswind landing. If - for example - the wind comes with 30 knots 90 degrees from the left, the nose will point during the final approach into the wind. Ideally the pilot flying will keep that nose position until a few feet over the runway. Then he or she will use the right rudder pedal to move the nose straight with the runway. Depending on how early/late this is this done, there may also be a need for more or less left aileron input to avoid drifting from the centerline. And - if everything works as planned - the plane will touch down usually with the left main wheel first, then the right main wheel and then the nose gear.

    Danke fürs Anschauen. Es gibt bestimmte Kopfhörer mit Mikrofon (Headsets), die für den Airbus zugelassen sind. Sie kommen von unterschiedlichen Herstellern und müssen eine vorgegebene Norm (Technical Standard Order) erfüllen. Meist sind zwei im Cockpit, die vom gleichen Hersteller kommen. Manchmal sind es auch zwei verschiedene. Hier waren es zwei unterschiedliche Marken. Die Funktion ist allerdings identisch. Was die Sprache betrifft, können wir uns sowohl in Deutsch als auch in Englisch unterhalten solange wir beide der deutschen Sprache mächtig sind. Die Crew entscheidet das selbst. Allerdings sind die standard "Callouts" und alle Handbücher und Checklisten, die wir benutzen, in englischer Sprache verfasst.

    Es gibt ein international gültiges Buchstabieralphabet. Das regelt die etwas komische Ausssprache. Statt „Three“ wird tatsächlich „Tree“ gesagt. Statt „Nine“ wird „Niner“ gesagt. Dadburch sollen Missverständnisse vermieden werden. Manche unkundige Zuhörer denken dann, wir würden kein richtiges Englisch sprechen.

    Letztendlich ist das zur Sicherheit der Passagiere. Es kann vorkommen, dass man auch auf dem Vorfeld mal stark bremsen muss. Dann würden diejenigen, die in der Kabine herumlaufen, eventuell hinfallen und könnten sich verletzen. Auch die Flugbegleiter stehen erst an der Parkposition auf, wenn das Flugzeug bereits nicht mehr rollt.

At this moment, I do not know about future changes of the SOPs. Have a great day!

    Thanks for watching. First, I always put my hand on the right armrest prior landing when I am the pilot monitoring. This has nothing to do with this landing. And there was nothing non standard about this landing. It was a very good example how to do a good landing with an an Airbus A319. The Airbus FCTM suggest a flare height of about 30 feet for the A320 family. Experience shows that a heavy A321 may be flared a little earlier and an A319 several feet lower. If you start the A319 flare in 40 feet, you may touch down behind the touchdown zone.
