Back when Pop music had musical substance!!!!

Duran Duran thoroughly deserved this award not merely for their songs, stardom, contribution to music, etc but they are finest example of how a band should be, how they regard their friendship and how they value their fans. These factors make them a stand-out group. Simon's remark was the best- " The essence of why we make music is this- we make people feel better about themselves." Prayers for Andy. I wish him a full and speedy recovery. His written note that Simon read was very touching and I am glad he got to know of his achievements in the band. Duran Duran are true legends.

No doubt a long deserved recognition! Duran Duran assembles all what an ICONIC BAND must be! Excellence pouring!!

I think he sounds better. He had a bunch of vocal issues in the 90s, hard a few surgeries as a result, and I think his voice got better now than even at their peak in the 80s.

his voice changed c. 1985 or 1986. it was deeper in the earlier albums, you can tell it is softer and more melodic post-Notorious. it's as noticeable in his speaking voice too.

@@heatherr0420 Back in the Day eh? 😆 I tend to forget how old I am until I hear what for me is a recent memory referred to as from Back in the Day. But I love it. I'm just about 1 year older than Simon. I decreed a few months ago on Insta that directories that are under age 40 are just that Duranies. Those 40 to 65 shall be Vintage Duranies and those of us who were Duranies before there was a DD and been with them these 40 years. All those over 65 and doing it quite well I may add shall be Royal Vintage Duranies.

Thank you for this video. I'm so proud of these men. I started listening to DD in 1982, because a girl I liked gave me a mixed tape, and I was like wow!! I actually started singing because of Simon. In fact, I wanted to be Simon so bad.

Warren came from my nabe.. His brother did drums on one of my first songs. but Warren went on to to be a part of of Frank Zappa. Missing Persons, Duran Duran.. He defifinitely deserves his dues.

These 5 guys have been made me love to listening rock music ever since a friend of mine, back in 1985, made me listen 7 and the ragged tiger. I couldn't but become a fan of Brit bands like Duran Duran

Only The Rolling Stones have been making new music longer than Duran Duran. 40 Freaking years they've been making the soundtrack of our lives. You go boys!!!!!

@@catherinewilliams9680 Seriously? There are many acts still going, that started around or before Duran. Bob Dylan, Iron Maiden, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Mike Oldfield, Depeche Mode, (bit of a wild range of artists, and definately not exhaustive, but an example).

He was great!! A few mistakes in the speech but no one but Duranies knew!! So happy for them!!! They absolutely 1 million percent deserved this!!! Loved them 40 years!!!! They absolutely Rock!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍

Ian McCulloch and David Butler… Terri Nunn, just amazing, wonderful artists. I was so fortunate!! God bless them and their wonderful music! I was a huge fan, even went to Antigua where they filmed Nightboat, and their early b sides are better than the rest of it!!

My husband and I loved Come Undone so much we danced to it on our first dance at our wedding March 1997! Coming up to our 26th anniversary this year - thank you for your brilliant songs DD ❤❤

I do wish the video focused a bit more on their musicality and musicianship but they also were the embodiment of a youth movement. Youth who’ve obviously grown up with them! Still adoring them to this day!!!❤

2 really good albums and then a bunch of crap. I don't think they deserve it but neither do a lot of acts in there.

Japan were head and shoulders the more talented Band, but they weren't as accessible as Duran Duran to the masses. Not lighthearted enough, a little to serious and arty.
