Vive la revolution! This is what I loved about Duran Duran. Cinematographic quality, long videos, which were very special and well produced. Probably the best videos to come out of the 80's.

I have been a fan since 83 and this is the first time I see the mini movie of this music video. So elaborate and cool! Love it! Thanks for sharing this gem on youtube!

I was just gonna say the same thing! I saw the link in a Facebook post and thought "eh... I'm not gonna click it because I've seen the extended version on Dancing on the Valentine (the VHS)." After I got about the 2: 25 mark, things started to look different, and I was like "WHAT?? What the hell is this??" And watched the rest of the whole thing with my jaw open. Now the actual video makes more sense with the storyline. Thank you for posting this publicly!

Duran Duran did this mini movies of their videos and then they became MTV hits and this is one. Duran Duran were pioneers of music video and they were the best at it!!

oh my god~where on earth did you find this gem~i've been a durannie since 1982 and i've seen new moon vid many times since feb '84 release~even have it on the video e.p BUT NEVER SEEN/HEARD OR EVEN KNEW THIS VERSION EXISTED~why had this never been released back then or even shown~wow this has made my year so far~whoever you are that found this and put this on here is a star~top work you hero :)

Me too! I remember Simon gave the jacket away on a Saturday morning show competition, I was so jealous some girl won it.

This music video is the coolest, so is Duran Duran :)

As a DD fan since 1981, this is the first I've seen of this. If it really were filmed in one morning, it's extremely speedy work by the cast, substantial number of extras and crew. A night shoot followed by a day shoot is quite unusual. Including a helicopter shoot, too, I'd have thought this would be several days. Andy Taylor, in his memoir: " "Everybody... hates it, particularly the dreadful scene at the end where we all dance together," Taylor wrote in his memoirs. "Even today, I cringe and leave the room if anyone plays [it]." He recalls that they were miserable since their Christmas holiday had been cut short to shoot the video, and spent most of the day on the dark and cold set drinking, to the point that he was "half cut" by the time the last scenes were shot. "It's one of the few times I've seen Nick dance." Oh, the dancing... I can't watch any more.

Yes, i know about the cringe of the band regarding this video but i always loved it!! This was my first DD song i loved in my childhood, the chourus was in my mind since 15 years, when a friend gave me a seven and the ragged tiger TAPE! Today at 48 years, i see for the first time the entire video..omg ❤

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought this. I have seen this video several times, but only after repeat viewings did I realize he was pretty good despite not having an acting background. It must be that he is just comfortable in front of the camera since he already had to get used to it before.

Never saw this before! A whole other mix of the song. The last 4 minutes of the bandmates dancing is priceless. I can see why they edited it down, but I admit I could've watched another 20 minutes of it. 😄

Fantastic! I haven't seen this version since the 80's :) My favorite song by DD.

Back when they did the Blue Silver tour in 1984 they talked about making full feature video and this it that video! A bit long but great!!

This video version is my most fave, I know that DD was a bit in the bag when they did this video and are not proud of it, but man I loved how Russel Malcahey turned it into a mini movie. I fuckin love this version of this video. Guys you said how you did not like this version of this video but I think it was amazing and so many others do, seeing the comments here for this video.

Simon's low singing at the start of the verses reminds me of David Bowie. I always liked this song. No idea what 'shake up the lizard picture' means though.

The only reason Simon never went into acting must have been personal - for whatever reason he just wasn't truly interested, or preferred to focus on the music. A shame in many ways, as he truly does seem to have a real affinity for the big screen.

I think the band are slightly embarrassed by this video - not a favourite of theirs, heck, it isn't likely to ever be on their own channel. but for me it shows a band trying something way outside what was expected from a band at the time - and they should be applauded for it. And it is a pretty darned cool mega extended version!

1984 on #mymusicalroadto50 Duran Duran - New Moon On Monday Another single which featured on ‘Seven And The Ragged Tiger’ so I got a listen of it before it was released as a single. I always liked this one. I think what I liked about them is that they weren’t samey. Well not to me anyway.
