I had same issue and I’ll tell you what. I did every replacement part from cheapest to most expensive. Every single upgrade was incrementally improved a little bit more than the last. But, if you do it all, you won’t believe how fantastic the engine runs when you’re done!!! 1-added helper pump 2-Cp3--way better fuel pressure!!!!! 3-injectors with factory Bosch’s But listen, ALL THREE HELPED BETTER AND BETTER! Don’t stop without a new CP3. Your fuel pressure improvement is ridiculously better! ZERO LAG.

Thanks, man. I've been looking at CP3 pumps, I'm thinking you're right.

You did the lift pump,CP3 and the injectors in that order all at one time??? If at different time, can you share the time intervals? Did you ever install new fuel lines with double clamps as per the GM TSB before the lift pump,CP3 and the injectors were done? What year is your truck?

@@michellejohn695 the entire process, took about four weeks to do about a week and a half that was ordering things and having them picked up here in Idaho. My mechanic he’s been doing it since Christ was a corporal on every piece of machinery in farm country here told me I really think it’s your pump because you can’t maintain any pressure, even before it starts to fuel down to about 19000 psi. Even though we were more concerned about the injectors, we went ahead and did the pump first. Don’t forget it’s half the cost of injectors. Immediately my pressure when would zoom up to 26 five for about three seconds or four seconds before it would start to drop down to 19000. so we went ahead and did the injectors next and holy shit that truck is like a freight train. Adding the lift pump did nothing that I could tell certainly didn’t feel any different, but it was worth doing for longevity I was told. as far as the fuel lines went absolutely none of mine were soft or squishy anywhere and it was a 07 I had metal on the ends as well. So technically none of those have been replaced on this truck. There are no fuel leaks. There are no wet areas so for me, those were never an issue, I really think people don’t always understand is there isn’t always a single fix for our P0078. In my case I am 100% sure all three main issues were a contributory factor. It’s just the lift wasn’t contributing to the problem that I could tell , unless they are the reasons why the injectors at least one of them was stuck nearly open. Yeah I probably put six or $7000 into the truck but I don’t care. I love my truck and it’ll last a very very very long time for me.

Thanks I really appreciate the follow up. With that lift pump do you still have the original fuel filter installed as well. I really appreciate the LMM videos. I’m curious at how many miles you change out the 3 filters. Thanks

I'm still rocking the old fuel filter setup, I plan on changing all 3 every 15,000 miles from here on out. Hopefully, this finally cures the issue

That's crazy... I've been fighting the obd code p0087 low fuel rail pressure low. I replaced the cp3 fuel injection pump also replaced the lift fuel pump inside fuel tank. Replaced pressure sensor switch along with fuel rail relief valve in front of fuel rail still having the p0087 coming up.

@@heldtheflashlightfordad6728 nope I thought about at the very beginning. And after testing them onto the scanner and individually diagnosed them. They check out to be good. After all there is no fuel on the oil fluid. Not sure

My old injectors tested good, too. My return rates were normal, I had perfect balance rates. Mine would only act up on the hottest days, pulling heavy loads. The fuel gets super hot and thin, and the injectors start returning too much fuel. It's almost impossible to check the injectors under these conditions. I've researched and found that the injectors need to be replaced or rebuilt in the LLY, LBZ, and LMM duramaxes at around every 160k-200k miles, depending on how hard the trucks worked, give or take. Doesn't matter if you changed fuel filters and added fuel treatment religiously.

@@heldtheflashlightfordad6728 see that's interesting. Due to cold temperatures she drives amazingly. It's when it gets to normal hot operation temperatures it's when she goes limp mode and can't drive past 35 let alone 45 miles an hour.

@francisco-javiergarcia4264 Hope you get it figured out. It's extremely frustrating not knowing when she's gonna just fall off. Mine always did it at the worst time, I've had to cut over three lanes of traffic with a damn skidsteer on the trailer. What a pain in the ass

I have had the same w my 08 LMM. Does the code on the same hot days w a heavier load. New lift pump and bigger tank. All injectors are testing well with in specs. Did not solve low fuel rail code. Recently had oul looked at aka tested and found fuel in it. Replaced injector pump. I have not had the nerve to haul a load of 8k on a hot day. Mostly because i need someone to flow me and take the load if it occurs. Good times

Sounds like fun. I'll know in a couple of weeks if mine is fixed. The only thing left is the CP3. I went for the injectors since it's hard to test them unless you're able to recreate the same conditions. Best of luck to you. I hope it clears up.

Did your injector balance rates indicate something was wrong and that’s why you decided to change them and not the CP3?

Great question. My injector balance rates were perfect, even when it acted up. Injector balance rates help with misfires, rough idle, and stuff like that. This was purely a lack of fuel pressure. If it happens again, I'm digging out the cp3 for sure.

I thought the lack of fuel pressure on your truck was because the fuel line was kicking when hot? Interesting that it fixed it for a year.
