I use both but got really annoyed with duolingo since the "update". I like, as you said, the freedom that Babbel has and duolingo used to... the game part was stopping me from progressing since I was going for points. I really liked the mini stories in duolingo but lost several again since the update. Very good review thank you.

I have been using Duolingo for a year and a half and recently decided to try Babble. I am hard of hearing and even with my hearing aids turned and the volume on my iPad turned up there were too many words that I just couldn’t understand. I contacted Babble and they were very nice and returned my money. I also noticed that both apps relied on drawings that were not clear enough for visually impaired people . If you have to see the drawing to get the answer right then it wouldn’t work.

Hey thanks for sharing your experience! If you want another app maybe check out Busuu? They have pictures but you don't need to get the picture to answer the question. In all cases I hope you find something you enjoy! :)

Thank you for your videos, they are very informative! As an English speaker with some French background, I've just started learning Spanish on Duolingo free version. If my goal is to learn enough Spanish to at least become phase 1 fluency, then would it be worth paying for both Super Duolingo and Babbel, or would one of them be sufficient? Duolingo has been fun to build a vocabulary, but my concern is that it's too limited for real world application. My concern with Babbel is that I may not stay as motivated over the months compared to the addicting and socialized nature of Duolingo. I appreciate your thoughts!

Hey there, glad you enjoy my videos! :D I would probably play with both apps and see what you like. Perhaps even try Busuu, which is a little like a combo of both/ somewhere in between. From there use the app as a tool, but expand how you use what you learn from it. If you're interested in seeing some specific ways you can do that I cover them in the App Hack Masterclass I did! @@BreakOutandSpeak Thanks for the Busuu suggestion, it's much better than Duolingo with regard to learning how to actually use the language with their real life videos, important explanations and community corrections.

I love duo. But im going outside the app now to read short stories. I find reading to be an awesome way to learn new word.

Thank you for this video. I haven't used Babbel or Duolingo (I'm an intermediate-advanced-ish Spanish learner). Personally, I'm not big on 'gamification' of my learning experience, but that's my personal preference only....not judging that approach at all. I do like Speechling for passive listening practice.

The gamification aspect isn't for everyone for sure, so good thing there are various resources out there! The key is finding the one that fits the best with your style 👌

Do you recommend any apps for kids to learn Italian? Ages 7-10

Hello! Duolingo feels more like a game and that style some kids might like. Just encourage them to use Italian outside of the app to help 😄

I don't like Duolingo. I'm learning Russian. And they have unrealistic sentences. Like, I have a pink cat😂. I think it's more for kids.
