Would be nice to see more earbuds reviews! They're like the open back version of iems :D They have the disadvantages you mention but generally also a very good sense of space, very good soundstage, etc. Maybe try fiio offerings and rikubuds. Oh, a lot of people rave about TGXear Serratus. A bit more expensive though...

I have just fallen down the flathead rabbit hole. "Riku was right". I have been collecting the standard budget models, the Iris, X6, RW-9, LBBS, eb2s pro, and am thinking about this one and a FF3, then a couple gen3 Riku models.

I got this set in the other day and Akros review is absolutely spot on. This set trades blows with my TOTL end game buds. The Alpha 3 is a bargain in my book.

Nice review on the ,earbud or mx 500 shell type earbuds..I ave ,a ton of mx 500z..Faaeal, monk plus, Edifier..luv em..you can grab the tails= stems, like you had stated, facing forward, goes back to stem style tws, moving the tails forward ,for lock and seal..it abb sa loot Lee, locks your tws/ earbuds, and ,enhances the sound, also iems..Great review on these danu..earbuds.. The earbuds you have are nice looking , buttt, I like the light plastic mx 500 shells, ones you have look ,weighty, and esp ,with these type earbuds, wieght creates s topple effect ...plastic shells stay right ,on a person's ear, and ofc , grab the tails and lift forward to lock em in

What is interesting about the Apple Earpods is that they a have a different design, which is called semi in-ear design or half in-ear design. Kind of a middle ground between iems and flathead earbuds. There is a mod you could try that improves the sound of the Earpods quite a lot. Try insert on them a pair of those full foams used for flatheads. It works like a charm. What you get is that the bass is significantly improved and it also tames some harsh peaks in the treble region that they have. Although earbuds foams do not provide the same level isolation that iem silicon tips do, they do provide some amount of seal. Silicon tips seal the entry to the ear canal, whereas the foams provide some seal between the earbud and the external concha. The Apple Earpods have a very good and capable driver. I hope that may be a little of an upgrade you are looking for.

Thanks for the review tony. One small suggestion, sorry if i have missed your disclaimer. Do you buy the audio gear? Or do you get some stuff drom comoanies and retailers. Regardless of you buying it with your own money and you being sent a product a small disclaimer would be nice. Like "todays review unit was sent to me etc." Or "i bought "todays stuff with my own money" A small citical eval

I actually prefer the Dunu...somehow it stay more fixed
