Thank you to the gentlemen who took the time to tell a bit of this story, my father was with the royal horse artillery, attached to the 51st (highland) division, and captured at st Valery, I know he always felt those veterans deserved more recognition. Thank you for your sacrifice.

They shall not grow old , as we that are left grow old . Age shall not weary them , nor the years condemn . At the going down of the Sun and in the morning , we shall remember them ! 🙏

I cried at the end of this and saluted Donald at the end when his photos came up......I cant believe these Scottish men are never remembered for what the did....But i sure am PROUD to say i am Scottish and am really thankfull for what my countrymen did.. They distracted the Germans to allow the Dunkirk evacuation....God Bless.

I've paid my respects at St. Valery where the Saltire still flies high and the people do not forget. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

No matter what they were abandoned. People will refute it. My grandad despised Churchill after that. He was captured in St Valery. Everyone praises Churchill but the real mvp’s and ones that deserve all the praise is the generals and all army personnel who fought in this war. Not the politicians who stayed at home playing politics.

My Grandfather was captured there as well @IreZico. He was bitter about the whole debacle until the day he died.

Churchill didn’t abandon them, that’s a myth. The Royal Navy was unable to rescue them because of weather.

The fog would have been a boon. They may have got a few off, officers staff or wounded. But not 11000. Ballance that against the boats facing 88s if they were caught and the losses there and it made little sense. Five years POW was a long time in the bag though. No wonder grown men wept. This early part in the war, excepting Dunkirk is not covered much. Its very enlightening. Im thankful for this.

the ir bravery saved a lot of people around dunkirk, when he said we didnt even have time to dig in brought tears to my eyes, these were boys of a higher caliber than the scumbags running around knifing people in our country today.
