The minimum wage of US, does allow even a laborer to get a decent sized house in smaller towns and counties, car, gadgets akin to a middle class life in India. Most importantly, their kids will now have oppurtunity to become anyone they want unlike here in India where when a laborers kid becomes succesful like cracking JEE it becomes a news story. In the US downward and upward movement is very easy, an astronauts kid can become drug user and vice versa

@@SohailAmin Yeah I know that bit as I myself lived & worked in Melbourne for 8yrs legally, but here it's about ILLEGAL migration. These illegal migrants will not be able to work legally as they will not have the documents for it so as a result I am assuming majority of them would get hugely exploited and underpaid by their employers as they always will have a fear of getting deported if Govt finds out. There is a huge difference in migrating somewhere legally & illegally that's the whole point here.

@@Nadd108 It might be slightly less but not significantly less that it makes the journey unreasonable to the people who dont have education or skills to survive in India. I saw a documentary of youth from Karnal, Haryana where almost 90% of youths from one village moved to US through donkey route, and their houses/villas can be clearly differentiated from the struggling youth working in fields or in some private firm. The basic math is easy. They around earn 2 Lac per month there, even if you save 25% its still 50k per month. Which a salary these unskilled can never even dream of in India. And these houses they built for their parents back in the villages is what motivates the remaining youth to also take the trip.

@@SohailAmin I have also seen a lot of documentary's where ppl doing all sorts of illegal things made a lot of money but ultimately they meet a fatal end so I don't think it's fair to look at some exceptional cases here & there & pursue & justify such illegal & immoral routes, what's wrong is wrong. Exactly. This is nothing to do with poverty or unemployment. Unemployed blue collar workers go to gulf as labourers through legal routes. These are just some parasites from 3 states Punjab Haryana and Gujarat who can spend lakhs of rupees for this madness. And parasites like these are the reasons all indians face problems even getting a tourist visa from a country like turkey also. So no sympathy for these assholes.

That's not the problem with the movie. The problem is that Rajkumar Hirani did not show enough about the Dunki process. He rather put more emphasis on the love story of the hero and heroine, which was not needed. The whole 2nd half of the movie felt dragged.

I guess Hirani and SRK will get his money but the story I feel went dry unlike RH did for other great movies like 3 idiots and PK where there was a serious rhythm of the movie.

They opt for this path because their lives are so miserable in their home country. If they are deported, all their efforts, investments, and hopes are extinguished, and they have to endure poverty again. Nonetheless, they are not even the unluckiest ones. Many of them lose their lives in the process, and the saddest part is that their families don't even receive confirmation of whether the person is dead or alive. Very few will truly understand the harsh reality. At the end of the day, life is not the same for everyone.

If their life was miserable they would have tried for legal visas for labourers in gulf countries without spending anything. It was all started by Sikhs of Punjab in 1970s. But those days were different illegals can get residency and papers. But after 2004 the laws have changed now only highly skilled and educated migrants get visa. Low skilled just get deported.

Not 1970s but in 1917 after the Immigration act of 1917 restricted immigration from Asia. California already had a large Punjabi population who acted as liason and assisted the illegal migrants from Punjab. Ghadar Party was also involved in illegal immigration through Mexico and used the money as a source of funding. In 1920, US Supreme Court ruled as Indians can't be classed as "free white persons", they are not eligible for citizenship which further increased illegal immigration as legal means were almost shut. It was only after the Immigration and Nationality act of 1965, that immigration was fully and equally opened for non-whites that legal immigration from India started, especially to the east-coast. Before that, majority of Indian community was in the west coast (including Canada where Vancouver was the hub of Indian community).

low skilled if they have proper paper works legally they wait for their turn if lucky they get through, but now days after pandemic even its tuff for highly skilled people to get visas so either ways if we work hard and be truthful nothing can go worng where ever, which ever country we are,.. hard work and honesty gives the success nothing else.

Before Srk I saw Mexico chaliye very good movie.

This movie is not for everyone, it's an educational film where we learn what happens if we migrate illegally or every college indian student has a dream of working in foreign countries and earning money

I recently met a punjabi girl in Sydney, whose brother /parents spent 50 lakhs to 1 crores to send thr son to US. He stayed in hotels and took flights. It took him 2 to 3 months to reach US and he has no danger cause he will be able to live thr under some rule of US. Patehtic, I would say when young folks do not want to study and prefer spending thr parents money.

Keep emotions aside. Take 1 lakh from that 15 lakh pool and start learning skills online. Problem is that all these dunkers are leaving because they don't want to learn and grow here in India. I have no emotions for such people who take stupid risks just because of peer pressure or getting influenced by anyone. Now with 14 lakh you can start investing in SIPs, or other investments. It's just not the local governments failure here in India but the whole crab mentality of some communities and their local elderly leadership. I only support people who migrate legally with some talent and education and who could contribute to other countries not these dunkers. Old man clearly says 5:34 that these dunkers tell authorities that their lives were in danger in back home. Sharam karo paisa bhi de rahe ho, itni zillat uthai , labour ka kaam and uper se deport ka bhi tension. Bhai itna 5-6 saal yahan ragad leta to job ya business ka experience ho jata. Many people take dignity for granted and when they realise it's too late.

india has a really severe overpopulation problem with very few jobs for the youth that are well paying (at least middle class, not day to day wage living). I am surprised the govt. is not tackling this issue seriously. of course the wealthy LOVE this situation as they can hire laborers at dirt cheap rates. I am an NRI who frequents Mumbai for pleasure in December and February and my dollar buys so much product and service from the most beautiful girls because there are just so many who have no money so I have the purchasing power...

I hope i make such an enjoyable trip atleast once in my life

We are 4th generations indians ,our grand parents were invited over after the 2nd world war and came with £1 in pocket worked hard for buy houses, done menial jobs. Now their grand kids cant afford to buy homes due to housing crisis caused by immigrants ,NHS creaking, standard of living so low.
