Well rapid fire it is! In case you didnt watch the first part of the series, AJ is revamping the Giant videos, making them cleaner and easier to listen to, as well as updating some of the lore. This is part two of that, and Ill link parts one and three down below. Also thanks for everyone who watched the History of Netheril video in December. While we did fall a bit short, AJ has been very generous and promised to put up part 2 anyways soon! Keep an eye out for it in the new year, and I hope everyone has a wonderful new year. In the new year you say? (sips beer) challenge accepted.
Man this video is a good reminder that not all the giants are evil. When you usually only encounter Hill and frost giants it's easy to forget that. Even the frost giants aren't necessarily evil, just fairly competitive and aggressive and prone to not caring about the small folk.
“Welcomed” = “Not immediately killed on sight.”

Running a game with a PC playing a half-giant Paladin of Annam. Thanks for this
There seems to be a lot of ritualistic hunting across all tribes as a display of strength or competence. I wonder what beasts are commonly hunted besides the occasional dragon whelp?

All sorts of giant megafauna you would find in the ice ages, plus Behir, Yeti, supernatural threats, drakes, purple worms, gray renders, and lots of big, mean and very dangerous White dragons, plus tons of Ogres.
I'm conflicted by the giants. On one hand, most of them are cool. On the other hand, they hate ALL dragons, even good ones. If the historia is restored, dragonkind (Including lesser dragonkind like dragonborn and draconic bloodline Sorcerers) are going to be in mortal danger. No wonder it hasn't happened yet, that would actually break 5e for these worlds. I'm wondering wherein this rivalry started, were Annam and Ao enemies?
@AJPickett

Io is the dragon god, not Ao. The fact is, the giants were on Toril first and the dragons attacked the giants first.

Dragons have always been since before the law and chaos wars Giants are like humanoids in that they are a new race of beings that developed as the prime material and outer planes were created and devopled substance as a plane bound by reality rather then elemental chaos.... Dragons flew thru the world LONG before most beings and devoured the nutrients of the elemental chaos to grow.hence why they are soooo elemental driven powers.... When law fought chaos Dragons so ancient that they are long forgotten fought for law and maybe also chaos.... Asmdoues is actually a ancient red dragon god And the god of coutls is his consort Lg and Le dragons led the charge againest chaos and created the outer planes we know today
"He also advocates victory via cunning & secrecy & surprise" meanwhile, the race of Giants that was his offspring is the stupidest & least stealthy of all! Annam really has a great sense of ironic humor!

Cool to see Anam was heavily inspired by Odin and I think both he and the Head of the Dwarf pantheon share the title "all father"

Friðrik Gretuson also DND canon has Norse mythology,Olympian mythos, and Egyptian mythology As official canon Ysgard is a plane and Odin rules a pocket of it and his god pantheon. And this lore predates the FG giant lore and dwarf lore by quite a bit I would say they are the allfathers to their paetheons
I see the giant gods of the Forgotten Realms are majorly inspired by the real-world Norse gods and mythologies... with totally nice original twists. Great video, AJ. I never really looked into these guys because my campaign world was my own creation. I see I should have got that for inspiration, would have saved me hundreds of hours of world-building time.
Part 2 was an inspiration goldmine. Thank you Professor! I can tell this series is going to reach great heights.
Having almost no knowledge of the Giant Pantheon I feel very intrigued and want to delve deeper into the squabbles you mentioned

Oh we have just gotten started!
You think with the Dragonspire destroyed that sooner or later the giants might build their numbers in another realm. Yet if another war broke out between dragons and giants neither would win since humans would find a way to subdue them.
Happy Yule AJ! You posted just in time for my break!

Thank you for revisiting Giant lore! I am currently running Storm King’s Thunder, so this is relevant and interesting information, if not useful!
Fantastic! As always, many thanks AJ! 😊
Will you ever do the real mythological creatures DnD stuff is based off of? Like the militarized lizard-men are based on the African mythical 'Intulo', and that myth story is the most metal shit I've heard. Oh, and the Yuan-Ti are based on the actuall mythical creatures called the 'Chitauri' from Xhosa and Zulu myth. The funny thing is, the ones in the myth are way more insane, brutal and OP'ed than the DnD versions.

While I do talk about mythical inspiration that many D&D creatures are based on, I'll be sticking with my usual format. 😊

I sometimes wonder about one race deities that can ONLY source prayers from a specific source if that source is lost then so are they.

Ahhh. The Great lords of the Giants. I know the giants are no boyscouts, but their gods are just dicks...... like a dad who walks away from their children when they argue instead of resoring order. Ungratefull parents. I mean, burn down, and destroy one little empire, and dad throws a hissy fit, then moves to mystical Aruba....
I decided to mess with my fellow players by creating a mostly nonviolent cleric of Knowledge worshipping Annam himself...
You know what happened you ever met a giant is a atheist doesn't believe in any gods alvead

I don't see how the giants held their own against the dragons unless the titan did most of the work. O.k storm and cloud giants but still even they are not as strong as a dragon oh sometimes yes but mostly no. So the story doesn't sound believable it's only fantasy but still it's good to have a believable story. I think they should have used a different race besides giants. The giant gods are excellent and thank you for the video and have a good evening 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊.
