Really appreciate you covering my expansion! This was definitely a labor of love for one of my top 5 favorite games ever. I have a limited quantity going up on the shop very soon, and a reprint is in the works so when the new sets come in I will list more on the shop!

I know you don’t like doing play throughs of games but I must say, I love it when you give us at least a few turns like you did here. I just like your style of playing and how you talk through all your decision making. I think it’s really fun and makes the videos feel somehow interactive. Just an illusion to be sure. But thank you for videos like this! (And Cartagraph and Mini Rouge) And I would totally buy this one and the expansions!

Also, I love your solo interpretation of Haunted Halls, so I added that as an official solo ruleset on the rules sheet and credited The Dungeon Dive at the top of that section!

I was very close to selling my copy of DQ this year. Glad I held off. Hopefully these expansions will re-kindle my interest.

What the WHAT?! I thought i was getting a old video recommended to me in the feed. Lol Thats crazy. One of the last things i wouldve guessed ,would be seeing an expansion for Dungeonquest. I guess buying that good condition DQ back a few years ago will pay off. Pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure Games Workshop was the original rights holder. I suspect they licensed this latest version over to Fantasy Flight along with their other IPs at the time such as WH40k, Talisman, Wiz War, and Fury Of Dracula which FF republished in updated versions. However, GW dropped the licensing when FF produced their own tabletop minis wargame which would compete with GW's own in-house ones. Hence why the aforementioned games and IPs went out of print at Fantasy Flight years ago, unfortunately. Which means Fantasy Flight will likely never do so again since they lost the license. I know Fury Of Dracula was licensed to some other companies since then so maybe someone else could in the future. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, however, since GW is infamously coarse regarding it's IPs.

The GW Dungeonquest from the 80s is my all time favourite board game. It’s just pure dungeon crawling distilled into a simple and efficient package. I’m not sure it needs any further expansions to be honest, it’s main strength for me is how lean it is and how quick to play, but still extremely eventful. If anything I’d just want some more cards and tiles for the existing decks to add a bit more variety.

I'm Swedish and got the reprint of the original Drakborgen and Drakborgen II with a few expansion extras that was kickstarted a few years ago but fortunatly I got this version of Dungeon Quest as well! These fan made decks seems intresting and fun and would differentiate the Fantasy Flight version even more from the swedish original, I might pick this up!

Yes! This is the version I have and, even though not in my Top 10 games, is in my 'most treasured'/'never to be sold' collection. This, and 3rd edition before it, are both set in Terrinoth (my favourite tabletop setting) so I'll definitely be trying to get these if he ships to Australia.

Iirc, the portcullis slams down after you pass under it - it's supposed to be a threat to your chance to escape, or try another path.

Daniel sounds like you need to write the "official" solo rules for this. Although I find it a bit strange he put this much effort and love into creating this and didn't think of that.

Daniel did write it! I officially added the rules on the rulesheet and credited him with it! I admit I have never played DungeonQuest solo so it didn't cross my mind... however it was a super easy add, no cards needed to change, just an addendum on the rulesheet.

Pretty bummed ai passed on this version when it was available. I do have the original. But don't get it out much for fear of damaging it at times.

Perhaps I could interest you in "DungeonQuest in my Pocket": a DungeonQuest themed variant on the old Zombie in my Pocket? I made it a bunch of years ago and dare say that it's one of the more popular "modules"/variants of ZimP! ^^ (I also made a Star Wars in my Pocket, where you pilot Luke's X-wing trying to blow up the Death Star) Available as a PnP at BGG in the Files section of the original ZimP!

I wish the base game was still available.

I would be more excited for this if DungeonQuest wasn't out of print 🙄

So to clarify, if we have the Games Workshop, non-revised edition of DungeonQuest, can we use these expansions?

These are made specifically for and reference some rules in the FFG version. For example, they make reference to stat tests and determination tokens, both of which aren't used in the GW version. Although a crafty gamer could make them work.

This looks great! I was wondering though as the game is already incredibly merciless: In what way do these expansions affect the end-game? Do they decrease/increase your chance of escaping?

This game is sooooooo expensive. I have 2 copies of third edition. I wanted the revised edition that you have. I may eventually get it. But there aren’t that many differences in the two editions. I think the combat cards is the main thing. The Etsy seller should also make a set of combat cards to sell. I did check his store. He has sold a handful of these sets. But none currently in stock unfortunately.

@@TheDungeonDive That is what i will never understand. Fantasy Flight could reprint these smaller, cheaper, beginner friendly board games and would make a fortune. Instead they only push the new Descent games, which are not beginner friendly, are overproduced and cost a fortune. They cancelled Android:Netrunner which whas one of their best games for example and nobody knows why.

It's really hard to say, and that's one of the things that makes this game so unique - there really aren't any other games like it. It's super deadly, highly competitive, and very thematic. It's also fast playing, and doesn't take up a lot of table space. Maybe something like Glory 2nd edition, or Bag of Dungeon might scratch the itch? Maybe something like Champions of Hara? Maybe Post Human Saga for something post-apocalyptic?

Here in germany i was lucky and found a cheap 3rd edition version with a slighty damaged box and rulebook but components still in shrink. I bought it immediately when i read that it can easily be upgrade to the revised edition.
