Dungeon Magic review [Arcade] - SNESdrunk
Ойындар
I forgot to mention that this game is up to 4 player compatible which just adds to how awesome this game is. Also known as Light Bringer in some parts of the world. This is just a bare bones review of Dungeon Magic, so enjoy!

I wish he would give a little more detail. For instance in this video he didn't mention the music or sound effects at all.

2:17 Hurricanrana! My fav part of these is you slipping in wrestling references. A winner is you!
This one blew my mind. How come I've never heard of this masterpiece? I also wonder why the isometric camera approach wasn't more prominently used in beat 'em ups: it gives a less cluttered view of all 4 players.

As an avid Lightbringer ("Dungeon Magic" was just the most generic-sounding of generic titles) player in the day, I generally agree - but the isometric viewpoint also makes it way harder to line up your attacks with the enemies, which can lead to some frustrating whiffs on the players' part and hits on the enemys' parts. It also contributed to the "quarter-munching" reputation of the game back in the day. ;)

I'm inclined to agree. If more games had used that perspective it could've been refined beautifully.
Games like these are truly the peak of pixel arcade games back in the day.

I have this on Taito Legends 2, and it's one of my favorite beat'em-ups ever. So much to do, so many things to kick, so many secret doors to find.
Great memories with this one. Me and my buddy played this one 2 player back then on the Taito Legends 2 compilation back on ps2 and it is easily one of the best games included in that. Thanks for the coverage and glad you had an awesome time with it.
What’s really special about SNES drunk is the way he makes you reevaluate game-related things you may have glossed over. Some of the best critics, in their prime, have done the same. You see a lot of examples of this in music journalism, especially. I truly think SNESdrunk is making an impact on gaming that we don’t even realize at this point. Keep doing what you’re doing man. You’ve got excellent taste, you make me think, and you’re the perfect balm in a world full of ‘like and subscribes’.
*checks off Liberace reference for his 2023 bingo card* BINGO!
Oh man, I picked up this game with a Taito F3 motherboard last year! One of my all-time favorites! Great review as always!
I also want to add that the announcer makes you feel super bad-ass every time you gain a significant amount of XP. "You've...just...LEVELLED. UP." :D
Always want more arcade reviews! This game looks freaking amazing too. Thank you a bunch for highlighting it!
My brother and I got a retropie a few years ago and have pretty much gone through every NES and SNES co-op game worth playing. It's great to see arcade games that might be worth the time.
Amazing that I've never even heard of this one. It looks like Magic Sword mixed with Gauntlet, which are two of my favorites. Keep up the amazing work Mr. Drunk.
WOW! I can't believed I've never heard of this game before and it looks like I really missed out! My friends and I would have played this game to death had we known about it at the time! Thank you so much for posting this review!
Great arcade videos lately. I've genuinely never heard of this game and have been using mame for 20+ years. Keep em coming!
Somehow you are still showing us intriguing games I have never heard of lol mind you, this is years after I first discovered/binged your work! You never cease to impress, bro. Thanks!

Wow, you sparked a memory when you brought up Dungeons & Dragons...that's one of the games I beat solo with I think about 3 bucks in quarters at Horizon in Lake Tahoe as a kid. I don't remember which D&D game was cause TIL there was more than 1 arcade D&D game. This game looks pretty dope. Love the RPG elements....great sprite work too. so Volt is like TG Cid of FFT huh?

Love this style of game and had no idea this one was out there, thanks!

This game looks seriously beautiful, the sprites are awesome! Thank you for this find!
One of the best parts of gaming, for me, has been catching up on all the arcade games i missed out on as a kid. So freakin fun man. Ive been playing Nightmare for Neo Geo for a couple of nights, and man its so fun
Loving this arcade series! thanks for the videos :D
I'm loving the arcade reviews!
I love these arcade reviews, building a cabinet now and seeing games I never knew existed but really want to try give me a push to finish it
"What am I, Liberace?" There's a reference I wasn't expecting today.
Love the channel, discovered this one almost 12 years ago. Truly a gem.
Liberace AND Metallica jokes? You sir, are a man of refined taste :)
Sweet, just checked this out for the first time after watching the first half of your review, thanks for the heads up on this one!
Enjoying all the arcade games lately 😊
This game looks awesome! And I love the Metallica reference.. lol! 🤘 72 Seasons Rulz!
Absolutely love the arcade reviews! It's a great idea. Keep them coming please.
I love the nostalgia overload you offer here.
My favorite part of this video is when the Elf Ranger picks up a damn boulder to throw at the other boulders! 🤯
Looks awesome! Thanks for reviewing this.
This channel is just the best, a cozy time capsule
the D&D games are also my all-time favorites! Back in college I played so much of them (mostly Tower of Doom, since that's the one my college rec center had). I just clued into this one not long ago, so looking forward to giving it a playthough (or 10!)
I remember having seen this cabinet only once. Thank you for the video, SDrunk, now I know how to find it, anyway I can✌🏼
Great review. I absolutely love this game!
This game looks awesome. I love King of Dragons and the D&D games. I've definitely got to check this out.
0:21 i totally thought you were going to say "and i should mention quickly, no, this has nothing to do with Linkara or AT4W" 😂😂
Cool video, thank you for naming some other games as well. Gave me a lot to look into.
Awesome video man, I love your videos, keep with the great content.
Thank you for introducing me to my new favorite videogame
when I realized the two dungeon and dragons arcade games were on xbox live it made my week. Those games are incredible especially with unlimited continues.
It's always a good day when drunk blesses us with a new review episode.
A Liberace reference? Absolutely incredible. I got a serious cackle laugh out of that one! Def checking this game out now, can't believe I missed out on it.
"What am I, Liberace?" This. This is the best the internet is going to give me today, and I've been on for literally five minutes. Absolutely cracked up. And...this game is GORGEOUS.
Played it for a bit and it seems like a lot of fun. Thanks!
You've often picked games to review that I've never heard of or just let slip by me like Shock Troopers and for that I just wanna say a big thank you because I always have tons of fun when I check them out. I'm definitely going to be checking this one out.

It's amazing what slips by whether it's something we never hear of or something we know about but never seem to have the time to try. At least you know about Shock Troopers now. It's always a good time. One game that surprised me when I learned about it was Cybattler for the arcade. It has some similarities to Shock Troopers, but also with more elements of a true vertical shooter. For a while it was a lost gem(in my opinion), but has more recently been released for PS4 and Switch.
This looks great! Thanks a lot!
Excellent video, as always.
It is good seeing more things like this, Reminds me a bit of Shadow over Mystara a little.
"It's like Landstalker" sold me right there
Good review! I don't think I ever played this one as a kid, but it looks amazing! I will definitely check it out! I love these types of games! This reminds me of The King of Dragons from Capcom. I am curious if there are many other arcade games similar to this that are a fantasy-style beat-em-up with a leveling system? It is a shame this wasn't ported to more modern systems!

There is a similar one called Gaiaopolis.
Just gorgeous and I’ve never even heard of it. Can’t wait to try it.
Another game to compare it to is light crusader for the genesis/Megadrive. Has that same isotopic beatemup style.
Nice review. Cool game and awesome video

Hey hope you're well, good to hear from you
Got it on the Taito Arcade mini, it's a real blast to play !
Those sprites are lovely.
I'm really digging this new focus on arcade games. I've been playing games on fightcade with my friends for years, and recently I had a blast playing your recommendations with my bros, thank you
Never heard of this one, looks amazing. Arcade games are their own universe it seems.
Wow this looks awesome!!
I bought the taito collection just for this game a few years ago on the ps2. Awesome game.
Wow. This game looks crazy fun!
This looks amazing.
I love the character design in this game, wow
I wish my brother George was here
I have never herd of this game looks great!
Genial ver que subas videos nuevos
Like Terrance and Phillip once said: "Let's look for treasure!"
A rare drop in a beat em up? Never heard of that before definitely going to check this out.
I played all the beat em ups you mentioned and bunch of others. Never heard or seen this one on arcades before.
You can turn on blood in the dip switch settings.
I have the Taito legends compilation with this game. Even in this age of gaming, Dungeon Magic is still fun. Gren is my favorite character 👍
I wish I could have played this as a kid This looks awsome
I would have loved this game back in the day
Consistently good content
Looks sick!
Taito Legends 2 was also released on PC, which is how I first bought it. And yes, it straight up installs the MAME roms, which you can just copy out of the install folder. It must have some odd romsets, though, as it requires a really old version of MAME, which I haven't quite figured out yet.
How great would it be if a member of Metallica is trying to unwind and catch up on some retro game reviews and then out of the blue they get slammed by a reference to them destroying a motel room forty years ago LMAO! Love the vid man, great time as always.
I like the look of this game, it pleases me
I'm someone that does not like the Capcom Dungeons & Dragons games all that much -- they're well made, but I never loved the feel of those games and think some of the design ideas didn't really work -- and I say that because I think Dungeon Magic is worth trying for those who don't love those D&D games because I love Dungeon Magic. In fact, when I last played it a bit over a year ago, I viewed it as a more enjoyable(to me) take on an arcade D&D game. I like that it's more straightforward with a more traditional feel of a beat-em-up game without some of the clunkier elements of those D&D games. Dungeon Magic is very well made and a lot of fun to play. I initially played it on the Taito Legends 2 about a decade ago. After some years, I wondered if it was good as I first thought, and upon my last time revisiting it I ended up having even more fun than I did originally. It's one of the best Taito arcade games I have played.
02:18 a Hurricanrana on a frog like enemy, the timing couldn't be better
Another gem, thanks a lot!
Game looks dope AF thanks SNES drunk!!
