I mean, SO much of Star Wars is influenced by Dune. Now that we’ve finally gotten a decent adaptation of Dune, it really just shows how mediocre a lot of Star Wars is by comparison.

I've noticed that Baron Harkonnen is meant to represent the depths of humanity's decadence and societal stagnation, and the Baron is so obese he needs suspensors to levitate himself. It symbolizes how his House has become lost in its own degeneracy and contrasts them with the hardworking Atreides.

For 80 years Arrakis belonged to House Harkonnen. Eighty years of owning the spice fields. Can you imagine the wealth? In your eyes, I need to see it in your eyes!!!

Yes, but they didn't feel the need to specify that. The narrator in the clip explicitly states that they "remained in conflict" which means that there was bad blood between the two houses even before the Harkonnens and Atreides got the fiefdom of Arrakis.

So what... everyone isn't into reading. It is great that someone with such passion and love for Dune can take his interpretation and make it into a movie for everyone (even those who didn't read the books) to enjoy the world and story. I was big on Marvel Comic (especially X-MEN) and with what they were able to do with CG it literally pull the story off of the pages and so many who were never into comics are now able to enjoy what I loved to read when I was a child. Don't be a bookworm snob. 😤
