Once I left the PS1 running almost 3 days straight in order to finish this game. I would play until the wee hours, hit the bed for a couple of hours before going to work and continue later. There was no way to save it in mid game, so I'd just leave it on pause, hoping the thing would still be alive when I came back, and it did flawlessly! That was 20 years ago...damn.

I played it when I was 5 years old, and since I am from Russia, I didn’t understand what was written there, I came to the kindergarten and drew maps of this game, now I’m 19 =)

*lmfao I had to do that with GTA, but when your playstation freezes up on you after hours into it you really felt like committing suicide, I don't know how the fuck I completed that game without a save facility.*

I used to watch my brother's playing this for hours. Really liked this game. I remember once my brother's friends called him and asked to go outside for a walk. He says 'ok, after 30mins, I play dune', but you know it's really hard to finish levels. Friends came after 30 mins, but brother refused to go saying he's about to finish level, asked to wait more... xD they waited, but then turned off main power switch in our section of building for a second, came back and took him for a walk laughing. xD

Dune 2000 PS1..... oh my gosh

I never forget this. I bought the physical Cheat Code Book and jackpot, cheats for Dune were in it! Put in the combination and by pressing 'R3' it would give you $10,000. "What the F is R3?" -10 year old me. Daaaaays later my friend discovered, that it was pressing right analog stick. But I was poor as fuck, I didn't even have an analog controller lol, only the cheap-ass 'Player 2' controller. No cheats for me, beautiful times.

I didn't just spend hours I spent years on this game and never got board.i enjoyed a trip down memory lane watching this video thank you.

Wow! The 3D graphics in this version are super charming. Seeing the little sprite soldiers running around and blasting at each other is super satisfying.

What you probably think of as a peace sign (yuor avatar) was actually a cynical joke by the evil rulers. After WW2 they spread this symbol telling people it means peace but it is actually a Germanic rune. It means death to Germanic people. So please dont use it. If you turn it upside-down it looks like a tree and means life.

Wow, 1999 really did mark the beginning of fully polygonal 3D RTS games for Westwood (C&C 64 & Dune 2000 PS1). Even though they started making 3D games with the Blade Runner game (1997, first voxel tech) and their first voxel 3D RTS, Dune 2000, in 1998. Man, Westwood Studios was ahead of its time and still puts Blizzard in its place.

Westwood was not ahead of anything. Fully 3D RTS first appeared in 1997 with Dark Reign and Total Annihilation.

Imagine if Westwood was still active and independent today. We'd have fantastic RTS games, maybe even a brand new Dune RTS game built in UE5.2 now that Dune is popular again thanks to the new movies.

Ah yes, KZread knows what I'm actually looking for when I type "DUNE RTS".

I spent hours on Dune 2 & 2000 back then before unfortunate events caused my computer to stop working. Luckily a friend of mine had this for his playstation and was nice enough to let me borrow it. Granted I couldn't play with no one but hey I was happy enough just to get my Dune fix lol.

my childhood game right here. my personal opinion its better then command and conquer i wish they would remake this for ps4 but like that will ever happen sadly

RTS on a console... you must be pretty special , yes RTS has found its way to console as well, but they are best played on a pc. you cant compare rts with a controller vs rts with a keyboard and mouse

jalliboy He's not even saying it's better to play RTS games on Console then on PC you twat, he's just saying he would like a Console port. While RTS games is home to PC, it wouldn't hurt to play on a console. Some people just prefer console.

I have so many memories of playing this over a cousins house for hour's while listening to gangsters paradise on repeat lol God I miss those days.

HumansAreDumb Trying to lay my grubbies on WC2 for PS1 right now, it's HARD to get that one for cheap! I would love to have it though. Warzone 2100, saw that, WANT THAT, gotta' start wearing a bib for that one. Got a way to cap PC gameplays now, so I can start showing off my PC games. Still would be nice to have some for PS1. PS1 forever, as I say.

the opposite. this looks atrocious. I was checking PS games and was shocked by Dune 2000 visuals. Had to go check if it really looked so bad and with a relief I found that the PC version looked different and looks good till this day.

PS1 is where the first time I played Dune 2k when I was a kid but I don't remember this graphics being 3D instead of sprites because I recently played the PC version and I thought that was the same as the PS1.

I like strategy games but I'm not a great strategist. Would probably get this as an investment piece. I love Nectraris and Military Madness cause of its simplicity.

It's just like command and conquer red alert.

I remember ps2 game and ya they used are building an at times mine would go to theres. It was annoying. If you destroy all there harvest buildings sometimes all there harvesters would keep going an go to your buildings lol

Engineers can steal harvesters ordos special weapons can temporary steal harvesters it's part of the game and not a glitch .it's the green mist they use .

This Game looks Same than Command and Conquer Games. This Strategy Game is Good. Ahhgh, I Want to Play This Someday..

PS1 had mouse. Tho i played with controller but couple my friends had mouse which made RTS games so much easier and funnier in PS1 :)

this was true torment but PSX was universal system , so many rts i didnt had to buy PC to play civilization , red alert or warcraft

i think the reason why he is playing so teribal is because he isnt used to the controlles. i completed all campaines and used to play against the enermy on hard difficultie and that was still to easy got bored stoped playing, now i play the pc version and thats abit harder. althoe the ai dont defend theselvs they just kick out tones of troops and tanks

Back in the days when everybody didn't had PC people just had to play this version of the game. PC version looks better indeed but what if you didn't had PC in 1998? I didn't had so i just had to play this version. Stop stupid argumenting about PC/PS1 port being better because it is just childish.. This version of the game does the job sameway as PC-version. :) Peace!!

That would be boring af compared to building an army of sonic tanks and placing orders on starport.

Idk why but with this game I had tons of FUN both in skirmish and campaign. Whilst in C&C Tiberium Wars was a horrible expirience for me. Im not saying the game is bad, but for me certanly wasnt fun. It was too fast for me and campaign mission force you to rush all the time.

I played this a ton on the ps1. I loved it but boy howdy those controls were garbage. Oddly enough, you still get pretty proficient with them.

That's right. I could not play normally in Dune 2000 after Dune 2 from SMD2.

PS1 was a joke. PC was way better version.

I have never liked this version visually. Even at that time, the graphics seemed too pixelated. The dune on Sega is much better.
