Facts, Im 24 and the music from your days is darn amazing. Matchbox 20, The wallflowers, The gin blossoms, Sheryl crow, 3 doors down, Michelle branch, Alanis Morisette, Counting Crows, Howie Day, Third eye blind, Nirvana. I could go on and on man. My generations music is trash, 90's music was really music with real instrumentals. None of that computerized autotune shit, and no damn smartphones. People actually talked to people, every one is a zombie on their phones in this day in age. Its funny that my "generation" (especially hipsters) try to emulate the 90's style to a certain degree. No one is authentic anymore !

90s music is what I grew up on. This, grunge, punk, anything on the local rock stations. But then I discovered Pantera. And Slayer. And Sepultura. And Lamb of God. My love for the guitar grew so much when I watched a video of Dime playing 'Domination' in Moscow '94. He became my idol, and metal is what I became. But still, I'll listen to the songs that remind me of when times were so much simpler, and this is one that I'll crank up in the car. My wife will just look at me and ask "why the hell is this on your playlist? Next time play it before you make my ears bleed!" 😅😅😅

The best songs grab you after a few listens. But, it's a rare one that grabs you the very first time. They usually have an often repeated hook--either a sung or melodic part--that have you singing along with it by the end. This is one of those. I also liked and remembered it from the very first time. (Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald/G Lightfoot proves it can be done with no singing required in the hook).

This song helped me through a narcissistic abuse situation. This played on the radio when I was thinking about the future of my so called "relationship" with someone who "really had me going, wishing on a star". But the black holes that surrounded them were, indeed, heavier by far. But I was thinking it over anyway. Because I wanted to believe or imagine they really did care about me the way they pretended to. Despite all the ways they emotionally abused me. But this song helped seal my decision. I have no regrets. Because I, too, didn't suppose it was worth the price that I would pay had I continued. It wasn't worth the one I already paid. I feel a lot better now... still a lot of healing to do but it's a step up from where I was✌

Isn't it funny how most people, regardless of their age, think that the last great musical era was the one from their youth, and everything since just doesn't quite measure up. reaperrap9 Your post is refreshing. I too feel the same way and have for a long time now. Good music is good music no matter when or where it's found. Though the music of my youth is generally my favorite (at least my favorite to revisit it now and again) I've found great music in many decades. I did think earlier today that I am stuck in "English" music though. At least as far as language and geneology. I love me some classic Handell and Behothven as much as I love Green Day, Tonic, Stone Ponys, Sade, Nanci Griffith & Bob Mould.

This song came out at the exact time I was in the most disastrous relationship of my life. Every. Single. Word. speaks exactly to what was going on... we were off and on for several years and then remained friends until the off and on thing reared it's very ugly head and then last year finally called it off for good after he threw me under-the-bus AGAIN. I think it's interesting that I've never seen this song online (KZread) and it popped up after another song (that I've never seen online) .. time to heal for real this time and asking God to heal the deep wound in my soul...

This song was annoying af "back then". It played on Alt/Alt-Rock/Pop stations constantly, to the point that hearing it now kinda gives me PTSD. No, not all music from the 90's was good. So, don't kid yourself. Sure, enjoy what you will, but let's not go down the nostalgic well and start dusting off turds whilst tryin' to convince others, especially ourselves, that we're holding onto Gold.

@Justin MC Right? What are these kids saying this music makes them nostalgic for? Their blankies and sippy cups? I'm almost 33 and I got to listen to "90's" tunes being released on the radio or MTV for about 5 years. If you're much younger than that, you would have been too young to even understand that music. I just can't see tons of 3rd graders (or younger) relating to 90's alt about codependent relationships, unrequited love, suicide, drugs, the underbelly of ______ culture, or other popular subject matter of that era.

90s!!!! I recall this song hitting big in 1997. I was between my junior and senior years of high school that summer and working at a crappy grocery store as a cashier. I hated that job then, but I look back on it now with good memories. This song was ALL over the radio around that time, and it got lots of airplay well into 1998. Now I'm instantly transported back to those days when I hear this. To be that young again, haha. Great song.
