The sleepover one is valid. We don't know who is a pervert and who isn't and thats the end of it.

yeah but parents sometimes dont keep that energy with their own family memebrs, who are perverts which is the biggest gag of all. Not in my family because my grandpa didt even tolerate men around house including family memebrs, the women and girls couldnt be 100% safe and comfortable with aka men that talk badly or derrogatorily abour women even as a joke, he let us dress however, us kids liked to walk around in just big t-shirts in the morning or the very little kids just in their short including the girls (am from a hot country) and he never made us feel ashamed or made us change he would rather kick the men out or tell them to say outside or on the front porch. But I do know of families that had full on pedophiles/predators and knew of them and did nothing or punished the kids/girls and women instead. But yes my mom only let us sleep over if she knew the family and the kids well and I had no problem with that because i understood and respected her perspective, sometimes it was annoying but I never complained, she would also host awesome and fun sleep overs and parites at our house as a compromise instead and my friends and classmates loved coming over.

I heard some of these as a kid. Sleepovers were for CERTAIN family member's houses only. When my mother was younger, she had A LOT of friends who were assaulted at sleepovers. She was heavy on the "they can come here, but you can't go there". When I became a parent, I took the time to explain to my son on a level that he could understand why my answer was no. He'd still be mad sometimes, but it was always a valid reason he could understand.

Knowing now what I see and hear from people that went to sleepovers growing up. I wouldn't let my kids either, Some of the craziest things happen with people you know. Kids are mean, parents can be creepy. I was only allowed one friend and I think it was cause it was 10 steps away and her mom was single mom, so no males in the house.

It’s funny how kids with parents that care about the littlest thing always become friends with kids that have parents who don’t care about anything. I’m glad I have parents that care a lot but at the time…whew…it took an act of congress to make any plans happen. Also sleep overs where a never in my house. The horror stories I have heard though. I got told I was never allowed to go on a residential because ‘I took too long showering.’ I took 10 minutes max and was told that’s too long and I couldn’t go because of it. When I heard everyone on the trips was always given 30 minutes, I tried telling them but they refused and still insisted I took too long. I know now they just wanted a reason other than they didn’t trust me but it drove me crazy how I wasn’t allowed because of taking too long to shower when everyone got 3x the time.
