There should be one of these streamers caught cheating videos but the cheating being actual cheating on their partners, that'd be a twist for this format

Honestly, when it comes down to the Tech Dev, it isn't weird for a Dev to enter like a server just to test things, and they'd probably be invisible while doing so. If invisibility like that's universal on all servers, then I can see that he'd probably not realize he's invisible if you appear visible to yourself. If it isn't, then I gotta ask the question of how long he's been on that server and if he was on long enough to be testing stuff

Yea I think I remember that; he uses invis to troll hackers (and to make sure they're hacking) before banning them..he does it fairly often so he probably forgot he was invis when actually trying to play the game instead of doing mod duties

It's sad about the woman. I convinced my wife, who doesn't really care for pokemon battles, to play in one of the Women's VGC tourneys. Built her a team, showed her what to do for a SINGLE HOUR, and that we were going to stream the sets together so I could sit next to her for moral support. I didn't tell her what to do during the games, it was all her. She starts the day 4-0 with x-2 going to day 2. I don't remember if it was the next set or after she was 4-1 but one of her opponent's friends comes into my chat and asks if I'm the one playing for her and telling her what to do since I'm literally just sitting there quietly while she plays. Actually ruined her mental state for the rest of it and she ended 4-3. She didn't want to play day 2 but that was pretty sad. (super proud of the wifey but) Dissappointed at this woman playing the "people call women cheaters card" while she's actually cheating

I can’t speak to what actually happened with the dev in the video but, speaking from the perspective of someone who does QA in game dev, it is possible that he was invisible by mistake. It depends on how a game client is setup but devs often can have additional files that can pre-set several console commands whenever they load into a client, so they don’t have to manually enter them all when they load into a game. Some common things could be showing the current frame rate on the screen or telling the game to record extra info about various game events, so devs can dig into further details if something behaves unexpectedly while they’re playing. As another commenter mentioned, it’s possible that he might’ve been invisible while testing things earlier (so he could check things out without being interrupted by players or other devs) and he just forgot to remove that command line from his configuration files afterwards. In a larger team, a technical director wouldn’t normally be someone who participates in those kinds of tests, but if the team was on the smaller side then he might choose to contribute to those

I think that dev may have been testing something, or just messing around in maybe a private game before that. using the invisibility there, but forgetting to turn it off when he s tarted regular matches

I don't mind cheats if it's not, like, a multiplayer game or someone attempting a speedrun or something. But if someone is just screwing around having fun, which is also the case with Purplecliffe, I don't think it's a big deal.

Nah, abusing exploits is against tournament rules everywhere, it was 100% cheating by the tournament rules. Shows really poor sportsmanship too IMO. There's plenty of examples of stuff like this happening and the player just leaving the game.

Late, but when it's for competitive, as long the moveset and ability is legit, it's fine. It's just saving time trying to get Pokemon with perfect IVs. Especially since Gamefreak doesn't give a crap about its fans, so they won't try to make things easier for the competitive people. 😒
