Jags fan here: I personally don’t mind the decision to go for the touchdown, but I don’t like the play design at all. Bring in your heaviest defensive lineman at QB and do a QB sneak. The Chiefs did that with Dontarri Poe.

The Chiefs should resume that. It's infuriating knowing that on sneak situations, they won't because they QB for hurt once doing one. Don't use a QB!

@@insouciantFox Andy Reid abolished the play ever since Patrick Mahomes got hurt. Patrick Mahomes has knock knees and is more susceptible to knee injuries in running that play.

You've got to have them practice taking snaps under center, and even QBs who take snaps under center all the time mess up the exchange. But with how successful sneaks have become, I can see the incentive to do whatever you can to add it to your playbook

Maybe the Jags could have done a “Brotherly Shove” type of play. The “Duval Haul”?

Why is there so much “mediocre” football this season (not specifically referring to this game)? Bad coaching.

What drives me nuts about these coaches is that they get cute in these types of situations when all they really need to do is remain basic.

As an Eagles fan, I saw more than my share of Doug Peterson headscratchers, especially in 2016, his rookie season.

Considering that Houston had kept Etienne in check the entire game at this point, running him here was kind of dumb.

I would kick the field goal here Several reasons why 1. A false start holding illegal formation or other offensive penalty happens HALF IS OVER 2. A field goal gives you a 2 score lead at 16 to 7 n is low risk 3. The defense makes a stop n you wish you took the 3 4. The final score was REALLY CLOSE and had that 58 yard field goal BEEN GOOD this NO FG is the difference here

I'd like to see more videos about dumb decisions that coaches get away with. There's a whole bunch of them about dumb decisions that didn't work.

Im guessing since Texans was expecting a Lawrence run he was trying to fooled Houston by giving the ball to someone else

From what the play looked like to me from the video, it looked like Pederson was trying to pull the Philly Special again.

Another somewhat dumb decision was Pederson doing what McDermott did against the Eagles. He called TO to ice the Texans kicker when he didn't need to. He could've saved that TO just in case the FG was good.

You said one of my least favorite sports statements in this video. I may have to start an extended discussion on the next livestream.

They didn't go for the points. But I can still see a video on it.

I don't like pitch plays in goal to go situations. My high school lost the state championship game because they lost about 10 yards on such a play and they hadn't tried a field goal all that season to even salvage 3 points (which wouldn't have made a difference because they lost by 5).

on a side note those all red Texans uniforms are awesome!!!!!

Could've been worse, like a fumble run back the other way for a Texans touchdown.

That was the wrong play to call in that situation. Pederson knew damn well that the QB sneak worked because he had Trevor Lawrence run one earlier in the game. Why not try that again? With Lawrence's wingspan, the Texans' D couldn't do anything about it. I hate when coaches try to get cute when it's not called for.

The Jaguars should have kicked a field goal and went into the half leading by 9.

I'm waiting for some defensive player to slap the ball away when the quarterback reaches for the goal line. I'll be the Texans were waiting for it.

Expecting Doug to answer the question of why he called that specific play is pointless. Doug is 90% coach speak. And also going by everything Doug has told us this year Press Taylor called that play and not Doug. But I hate Press and want him gone anyways. Dude refuses to call the correct play in short yardage situations.

Ammendola was released by the Texans the day after this game.

They said that they plan to sign him again but this was just a move to get someone else on the roster. Not sure how that works

I was watching this with my younger brother. We both thought that T-Taw was going to sneak it, not whatever this monstrosity was.

Every player(and i) agreed with going for it. If you look at the play, trevor would have been stopped and the middle was stuffed. It was the best play call for the situation. People complaining are the people who were playing madden sunday. Learn real football before you blame our play calling.
