Duke Health supports NC S.A.F.E. Week - (Secure All Firearms Effectively). The Duke Violence Recovery Program is a hospital-based violence intervention program that provides intensive case management services to victims of gun violence. Initially working with patients ages 18-34 years old, in June of 2023 the program expanded intensive case management services to Durham residents ages 15 to 40 years of age.
The program’s success also led to expanding support to patients who have experienced other penetrating traumas like stabbings since July of 2023.
