Duke Jupiter - I'll Drink To You
Музыка
Here's a very obscure video that got regular radio play back in 1982, this is without a doubt the best quality copy of this gem! Unfortunately the CD for this version of the song was never released (this special video version I believe is live), so I had to use the original audio, but I cleaned it up and restored it the best I possibly could. The original audio was very low and it had a loud hiss in the background when it was turned up. I had to turn the volume up 4 times just to be able to hear it, so I used audio restoration on it and it turned out very good. This is all thanks to my good friend Ralphy The Rocker who set me up with a high quality MPEG-2 source of this video, I was just responsible for the restoration of the video and audio itself. This is a huge upgrade to the copy that is currently on KZread. Enjoy!!

I owned a sound company in the SF Bay Area in the mid 80's. I was at some gig somewhere, and introduced myself to some guy as Eric Moon. The guy looks at me and says "yeah, right...and, I'm Duke Jupiter." I hadn't heard of the band. Thought it was funny though. Fast forward to 1987...I had sold my company, moved to the Finger Lakes to open a B&B. I tripped and fell into broadcasting along the way, and was on the air at 105.9 North Coast Radio in Rochester, NY. in 1992. I was interviewing a guitar player by the name of Greg Walker who had a band called the Powerglide Blues Band. W e got to talking about the old days...and he said, "yeah, I used to play in a band called Duke Jupiter." I damn near fell out of my chair! We've been friends ever since. And, I was fortunate enough to see 3 of the Duke reunions. Greg & Ricky are playing together again in a band they call "White Knuckle Ride". A tip of the hat to Duke Jupiter.

In June of 82 they held a free concert at Ontario Beach Park. They expected a couple thousand people... Over 25,000 showed up. Led to banning of concerts at the park for years. But it was a hell of a show. We had to abandon our car about a mile and a half or two miles away. We weren't the only ones. Worth it. They became legends that day.

YES...I was 1 of their groupies in the 70's. My childhood best friend and I were never carded at the Glass Onion on Monroe Avenue in Rochester and partied with them at every gig. George and I were good friends and I met his wife. He revealed to me about his brain tumor...😪 😢😭...very 😥 😔 cried so much. Yes, it is a tribute, however George did the bass in the original on the Duke Jupiter I album.

Still ❤️ Rochester NY
I met Marshall Styler, around Jan of 1971. My group was booked in Rochester for several weeks and Duke Jupiter was breaking up for the first time after a shot at it with a major label. Marshall was selling their Altec Voice Of Theate PA system . 4 1205 Cabs, 460 watts of power, AKG mics, Altec mixer. In short it was the best PA my band ever had. We all spent a couple of nights at the club and back at the motel drinking and telling stories about how record companies can screw up your life.
Good job, thanks from a former Rochesterian.

Lovin' it since 1982
I hear that time is just a watch that you wind When you're down feelin' born to lose I know some people get burned every day Wonder how they make it through I think I know what you're tryin' to say Never seen you run from a fight We're gonna live again to see that day I believe everything is gonna be alright Gonna be alright - gonna be alright I've seen the river and I've seen the road Never looked back but I've always known Someday I'll see you again - I'll Drink To You I'll Drink To You! Don't you get sick & tired of feelin' like that Do you have to be unhappy to smile Well it's the same old line the same old story Time after time after time You got to dance dream laugh and cry Do anything that you like We're gonna live to sing that song again I believe everything is gonna be alright Gonna be alright - gonna be alright I've seen the river and I've seen the road Never looked back but I've always known Someday I'll see you again - I'll Drink To You I'll Drink To You! I grew up in Syracuse and never knew these guys were from Rochester. "I'll drink to you" got play on 95X, but it was never mentioned where the band was from. Probably because they (the band) never took the 2 hour drive to Syracuse to play here, so the DJ's weren't going to promote them. I could be wrong, but i don't think they ever played a show here. Benny Mardones got all the publicity here.
