I think it's my least favourite instrument. I prefer the saxophone so much more, or any other instrument. Trumpets sound shrill, harsh, they peak in the frequencies where the ear is the most sensitive and they don't seem to have any body at all, it's just shrillness. I never understood Miles Davis, it makes my ears bleed. I like John Coltrane a lot though

Amazing soloing!! Idk so much about jazz, I just started playing in 7th grade, I'm now in 9th grade. For two years my music teacher taught us jazz and how to solo, or improvise. At first it was hard but sooner or later we got the chords down and then we learned the changes. It's been awesome and I was 1 of the top 3 soloist at my old school. I'm an incoming freshmen in my new school and the music teacher was impressed by our(myself and other kids from the same band) skills. He heard us play some jazz and decided to bring pep rally back and is thinking about having a jazz class, like at our old school. I wish I could thank my old music teacher but he retired and I don't have his contact info. But thanks to him I am who I am now.
My parents saw Dule Ellington on their 1st date ....out east😎😘⭐💭❗

I wonder how many hours of practice it takes for someone to be this good with the trumpet.

The soul and a creative mind is responsible to a great extent for a musician to play like these guys do. Classical players put in hours and hours of study and practice, and almost all of them sound dead when they play. They are just well oiled machines. Bob Downes (jazz flutist)
@clashkinggodcoc7968

It takes well over 10,000 hours of practice to perfect the trumpet. that means if you practice everday for 6 hours in over 1,600 days straight.

+ClashKingGod Coc (does the math) OR playing trumpet in marching band for 5 years, 8th-Senior... Hey! That's what I'm doing! Does that mean I'll perfect the trumpet???? 😱
@armandogiordano1226

Bob Downes "almost all of them sound dead when they play", "well oiled machines"...couldn't disagree more. Music is everywhere when you are technically prepared to say what you want to, it doesn't depend on what style you are playing. A jazz player could sound dead as well as a classical.

Cat sounds fantastic. He really makes his instrument sing. Also, his trombone must have been very shiny too (polished to perfection) . In the black and white footage, underneath the studio lights, glare was created from said brass.
