    He's obviously addicted to booze. NOTHING will force him to stop except crashing and becoming disabled or killed, or jail time; and for the truly addicted, jail time is only a temporary stoppage. Some of these hardcore juiceheads have caused more than one fatality accident. Maybe if they had shown him some photos of actual dead people in a burned car and told him he had done it, and showed him some official-looking documents declaring he owed about 3 million dollars for someone's death and they're glad he can now start paying it would have a lasting effect (and let him believe it for as long as possible). But he just took it all as the fun that it was. A GRAND joke, indeed. As long as booze is sold in public places there's always a chance they'll do something stupid AGAIN. They are POWERLESS IN THE FACE OF THEIR ADDICTION.

    The only real solution, since people will continue to drink (even if you banned it as Prohibition showed) is to have technology installed in steering wheels that can detect a person's blood alcohol content from their sweat, and shuts down ignition until they can safely drive. That technology exists, and I believe it's part of the infrastructure bill to make it mandatory for new cars starting soon. You will never be able to stop all people from drunk driving - even people without a "problem" will go completely overboard with drinking, and at that point the parts of their brains responsible for decision making, judgment and impulse control are gone. Many alcoholics have been at fault for fatal DUIs, but there's plenty of cases of people who went too far drinking one night, etc.

    In medical school? No, you don't, you learn medicine. In undergrad you may learn not to WRITE like that, but I'd wager that you write in a slightly different way than you speak as well- everyone does. It's called 'code-switching' and you do it subconsciously. Some people DO change the way they speak to more closely match the standard American dialect when they go off to college, but many don't, especially if they remain in the region they grew up in.

    I'm sorry, I have police in the family and have heard my fair share of accident horror stories. I have zero sympathy for drunk drivers, none. You had a bad day and want to tie a few on in a bar or at home, that's fine, have a designated driver or call an uber/cab, you don't get behind the wheel. Selfish, narcissistic drunks have destroyed countless lives.

    Being a drunk is bad news. I stopped drinking before i ruined anyones life. I still have many regrets, and can't be around people whom Ive caused problems with or for while drunk. Its sad. Going on 8 years booze free this summer. I don't miss waking up in a stooper. I hope this guy can see the light before he causes harm to himself or others.

    Extreme...but then sometimes an individual needs extreme measures to 'get the message',tho' it did appear in this case that he didn't 'get it'.The fact that after FIVE D.U.I.'s he hasn't changed his behaviour concerning alcohol/driving suggests to me that he hasn't served any real serious prison time.Sadly it's likely gonna take someone close to him being severely injured/killed in a car crash due to drink driving before he 'gets it'.

    Nate Lav you can have a drinking problem and still stay away from committing a DUO. He deserves to be in prison and judged. His decision to get in a car while intoxicated is not only a threat to his life but also others. Fuck him and fuck you for defending him

    SterlingIndecentMortal when you are drunk you dont make good decisions im not saying what he did was right. But we need to help people like him sending him to prison would probably make his addiction worse. No one should be judged for addiction unless they refuse to stop.

  • @turdnuggz69

    @turdnuggz69

    ScoffSlaphead72 yes when you're drunk you sometimes don't make good decisions but as someone who has been drunk many times I know for a fact you can still be smart enough not to get behind the wheel. Not only that he has done it at least 5 times. This is far more than just bad drunk judgement. This is him being stupid in general and not learning. He deserves to be in prison and his "addiction" has nothing to do with it
