I've been loving using the no oil no butters method and it's actually not a trend, it was created in 2015 by two hair stylists. They only have an issue with raw oils and butters, not when they've been formulated into a product. I think it's worth trying for anyone who isn't satisfied with their routine, wants to shorten it, or just doesn't like greasy hair. Great video though and the look was SERVING 🔥

yes, agreed! Ti was on it when she mentioned that people were/tend to OD it with the amounts of oils and creams. Honestly, my hair feels better, too! And I'm saving $$. Just committed to washing my hair at least 1x/week (and getting my trims regularly) marrying my conditioner with a ton of water while I detangle has cut down my washday time significantly and my hair doesn't feel greasy and has a lot of volume, even when styled with a foam and/or a botanical gel. But yea, people have to find what works best for them- but I would say whoever wants to give it a try, to remember that it will take an adjustment from what you may be used to, but it is 100% worth it!

Ah -- that's a detail I forgot to touch upon, in the video. This technique of no butters/no oils _pacifically_ seems to work for wash n' gos, which I think makes sense. I *do not* do wash n' gos, but if I did, I think I'd want my hair to not be weighed down, and mixing sealants with gels can get tricky. But, in general, I still think that >90% of people with afro-textured hair will benefit from using natural oils and/or butters (straight, not just as low level ingredients in stylers) to care for their hair.

Phobia for sure encompasses a range of emotions/reactions including fear, aversion, disgust, etc. But like all phobias, theyre irrational and rooted in ignorance/lack of understanding. Male homophobes tend to have a very fragile sense of masculinity and any association with queer identity is seen as lesser because its perceived as "feminine" and a threat to their "manhood" 🙄. Not shocking, these people also tend to be misogynists.

Actually, the "no butters/oils" thing isn't just a trend, it's something that hair stylists on twitter and ig have been saying for a long time: that oils repel water, which is why our hair can't properly receive hydration (water), therefore we should reduce our routine to a weekly shampoo, conditioner and styler. it makes sense to me to only use 3 things because like everything else on our bodies, we need water for hydration, and hair receives it when the cuticles are open by shampooing and sealed in by conditioning. we've been tricked into thinking we need the extra stuff *just* because we have afro-textured hair. btw love your videos!!
