Nobody hates Duff. In the old days, he was high or drunk all the time, didn't involve himself in the slash vs Axl conflict and now he is sober and a very pleasant man.

Waitaminnit... You mean to tell me there's a Duff McKagan interview out there with Ghost playing in the background? Jackpot! I love that Duff went to bat & stuck up for Axl here in this video from 2013 (before they reunited), at a time when too many people within the industry were leading unofficial campaigns to demean him and undermine his contributions; to the point of basically trying to expunge his existence from the record books. Hate him all you want, but Axl Rose remains one of the greatest frontmen in rock n roll history, bar none. He's given much to the rock n roll art form. Axl took the concept of 'rock star' to new heights; a place where no one short of Kurt Cobain has been able to reach in their own careers ever since. The dude is one of the immortals.

I personally like these kind of interviews :) Its not a typical/generic of the list questions to ask kind of interview... I spoke to Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge when they toured here in April & he is the biggest sweetheart & even tho I told him his songs meant the world to me & saved me from destruction he was extremely humble & made my night at the enmore theater amazing!!! The defiant thing I love about this interview is she is been herself & been a fan who is beyond excited to meet someone she obviously looks up to :) & believe me guys when a musician is that comfortable with you they know how excited you are & at the same time know what it was like for them when they met their heros, So naturally most musicians are going to be like that :) At the end of down she isnt been a typical stick to the books interviewer rather have a natural conversation & believe me guys you will find that the musicians love that too... They are human too & its a nice change for someone to do that :)

I'd much much rather have an interviewer that makes a interviewee seem at ease and use the format as more of a conversation than try and get the nitty gritty details from someone who's life is pretty well documented. Kudos on the conversational side of interviewing and getting some tid bits of info from Duff that seems like pure insight rather than shitty rehashed info we've all heard before.

Thanks man, appreciate it and glad you dug it. We hung out for 40 minutes, so he seemed to be having a chill time. Most artists get asked the same questions over and over and over and seem to appreciate a more open conversation with some active listening. I got a bit animated at times in this because I was excited and had been on the tour for eight days with very little sleep, but he seemed to enjoy it overall. I always try and get to the humanity rather than what most interviews are set up for - to sell tickets/records. And he's a fascinating human being.

Really funny at the end too, when they are talking about Duff's baby.. The way she says: "You did your part, and I'm sure you done it well! You know?" HAHAHA! Cracks me up every time! I kept rewinding it and watching her say it again and again! TOO funny! :P Hahaha! What is this girls name by the way? I'd love to see her interview more people, as she just has that GREAT style of questioning... I mean Duff is so comfortable here, he's just talking as natural and as a result we get to learn a lot more about him than we would if he was being interviewed by a traditional type of reporter, with a dull and boring approach... MAJOR respect to you mysterious interview woman, whoever you are! YOU are a STAR also! :) Fair play, from Davey in Ireland... :)

I'm on instagram as xtina_rowatt if u wanna see new links and stuff, and used to host a backstage channel for the Soundwave Festival, over here: thanks for the kind words! My first job was making tea at a mastering studio so got pretty comfortable with bands pretty early, also learned how important respect and manners are in this business! This was one of those pich yourself moments when a band you respect is just as cool as you would have imagined. Appreciate you watching, have about 160 clips up across my channels, check them out :)

+1FranklynRecords1 Yet they wouldn't be saying anything at all if I wasn't asking the questions. You totally have the right to not like how I do this, but the fact of the matter is, if active listening (responding regularly, nodding, acknowledging, asking follow up questions) didn't work, he definitely would have cut the interview before forty minutes. If he found me disrespectful he would have left much earlier. You're completely entitled to call me whatever, but yeah ... I think the proof in the method is the content, and the duration. Thanks for watching, and for bothering to comment.

+The Void with Christina it's constructive criticism. You can hear that he's raising his voice at times to get his point across. Duff is a polite guy so he gets on with it but honestly just let the subject complete their thoughts before interjecting. Many people have said the same in the comments. Didn't mean to be so harsh but it is something that could be improved on. I wish you the best ;)

+1FranklynRecords1 Haha thank you - trust me I am well aware I spoke too much in this. I have edited almost all of my interviews and I used to be terrible at this, haha. In context, I'd been on a festival tour for 8 days, in every edit, shooting all day and had drunk a shit ton of coffee, so didn't mean to be irritating. But yeah, this is from three years ago ... I hope if you watch one from this year you can see I finally learned to shut the fuck up (because it is an utter ball ache in the edit, and annoying, to not do that). I am unbelievably grateful that so much of the feedback I have received on this new channel has been so positive, means a lot. And you have every right to say what's up. Thanks for watching :)

Anybody who's been involved in TV or Radio knows how hard it is to interview people you idolise. I've done several interviews and it never gets any easier, especially when it's your hero's. The shitty comments are a bit like a rugby fan yelling at the tv thinking he knows whats best. You did a fucking wicked interview Christina, right on!

Nope, it has been published on April 15 2016, but the actual interview was in 2013. Some people should read the whole description! I love Duff by the way.

Duff is so great, the questions are good but the interviewer really needs to stop interrupting (she did that to the other guy she interviewed too). don't finish their sentences let them say what they want, he's not gonna swear or something

+Cal Cugedhion he is though! Dude can play like twelve instruments. A mate of mine saw him play years ago and he said he and the band played for two hours over after the house lights went up, just riffing on everything. Killer player. :)

Great interview, but, if a had a chance, I would've asked Duff about Steven Adler, more precisely: does he regret now that Steven was so disgracefully kicked out of the band back in the day? I, personally, think it was a terrible mistake! With Steven's departure, the unique chemistry within the band members was lost (so as the sound). Drugs? But, they were friends after all, weren't they? They should've help him rather than showing him the door! That's how I see it.

i hope u know that they all tried. when steven almost died from drugs, he woke up in hospital to find axl next to him and hes been in the hospital room next to almost-comatose steven for days without leaving. apparently axl had saved him but poor steven never sacrificed his love for drugs in order to stay in the band

+Chaya Ko, I'm about to cry! Oh yeah, they all "tried" real hard, it didn't work, so they've just decided to get rid of Steve asap and let him fall down as deep as he could. To hell with frienship, big money first, you know. The fact is, that without Steve, the band betrayed its own initial spirit and entered into decline. It's obvious, but, even now, they don't have enough courage to recognize it and finally reconcile with their own exaggerated egos.
