    Two great performers who really understand the importance of tone and voice-punchy bass notes and very sweet chords. I'm especially impressed with the dolce tones in the minor sections/variations of the Sor. They sound great together!

    I was really excited to watch and listen to this video, when I found it first time in youtube, and.... was somewhat disappointed. I expected much more from this great pair of musicians. They don't succeed as a duet. The best duet that I ever heard is that of Williams and Bream. In second place I would place the Pomponio-Zarate duet and third Presti-Lagoya.

    Más que conocer y sentir saber todo de música, la apreciación es indespensable y estos 2 son excelentes guitarristas y con una muy buena interpretación de este genial concierto, no nos hace expertos criticar severamente, apreciar nos hace humanos. more than feel we know all about music, we need to apreciate this, and both guitarist are the perfect musicians and this is a beatiful concert, we aren´t experts just for criticized, apreciate make us certanly humans.

    Innegable la genialidad de cada músico, pero siendo honestos, no lucieron tanto como se esperaría. Sólo tocaron, nada más. No es la clase de interpretación que te deja extasiado, con la boca abierta. Aquí no sucede. Escucha con calma la pareja Williams/Bream y notarás la diferencia.

    in the end the guitar, and i'm guitarist, is wonderful instrument with a richness of tones that other instruments don't have, but i agree the repertoire lacks many pages yet. so dear composers o today write for the guitar, and exploit its qualities and rembermber to write something that guitarists can hrdly play to improve be our beethovens :))

    You're right about the proliferation of minor guitar music today, but the lack of universal musical references of guitarists is the real guilty, if we approach to the universal great music of all time, we will find Sor as interesting and competent as Schubert, and even as Beethoven, and if we make a severe analysis, we will find than the most of the nineteenth century composers do not leave the same forms and harmonic progressions, Sor's is the only exception to the rule.

  • @editghosttv
    @editghosttv11 жыл бұрын

    Agree that too much minor "new" music--which few audiences favor--is being played, but Mozart never commited the composer's cardinal sin of being deadly boring, and much of Sor's work (this duo notwithstanding) is just that. I would love to see more of the great romantic Italian guitar composers' work, plus much of the fine neglected work of Mertz and the Russians, being performed.

    In a way, you are right on the money. The classics must live on in light of the growing modern "trend". We need substance and musicality, not flash and an elitist attitude that many modernists display. Brouwer has many terrific pieces though, more than a few, and I don't think it's fair to highlight him as the offender here!

  • @Deerse

    It is obvious that they don't have the match Bream and Williams have. They play like 2 soloists who don't strive to communicate and it feels like an isolated thing, 2 players on an island. Don't get me wrong, Russel is a poet and I admire Barrueco's Albeniz, but this....no way.

    Agree about Sor's technical competence but strongly disagree about the "interesting" part. Mozart and Beethoven's works are nearly always compelling for one reason or another; most of Sor's work is lifeless and boring. Since a small percentage of his work is fascinating, I can only conclude that his choices were poor--perhaps he was a boring guy! In the end, audiences demand more than "competence," and neglected Romantic-era guitar composers can provide it.

  • @euhdink4501
    @euhdink45016 жыл бұрын

    Both are excellent musicians, but together they miss the point here. Every anacrusis is so strongly accentuated which makes the music agressive. Tempo's are much too fast, no romantism at all ... sorry, thumbs down.

    That´s exactly what i mean...nobody knows about you and everyone can upload videos at youtube. -this emphasizing that you write about sounds that way because of the recording. The phrases are exactly how they should be and phrasing is more important. I am a professional classic guitar teacher. I dont know what you are but i dont think that you have given more concerts than Russel and Barrueco. Technically they are almost perfect, especially Russel. Sor isn´t that difficult to play.
