Actually Ilayaraja composed different tune for this duet song , as the team members of film director R.C.Sakthi did not convince with that tune he requested Ilayaraja for another tune and recording scheduled for next morning. Despite there was no time as the Director made his request only by night, Ilayaraja without any hesitation accepted his request and he composed new tune in a short time and recorded that song in the next day morning . The director got very happy and much delighted once he heard the prelude humming of Janaki...That is Ilayaraja 👍..avarai poi thimir pidichavar, thalaikanam endru andha kalam mudhal ippo varai niraya per sollitte irukkaanga, but ulagam irukkum varai avar isai irukkum,avarai patri thappa pesaravanga thaan uyirodu irukka maataanga...

Very good melodic stylish composition. Singing both vasu and janaki exemplary. But till date didn't quite understood why in the 2nd interlude - that solo violin and backup strings in total SAD mood. And coming back with that chord was wonderful. Lovely duet - nostalgic (I'm 64😊)

The year 1979 interview with shahul hameed ilayaraaja had explained that in every song there is always a special moment in each and every songs he has created then and after. That’s the twist you have noticed in this song aagaya gangai- listen to andhi mazai pozigirathu,poongathave etc

Priya sago! Naanum 11 years la irundhu Raja & Balu Vintage fan dhaan! Now running 55+ ! He produced this magic in 1979 with those modest& humble available instruments! The voices of Vasu & janumma spell bounding! The mathimavathy raga& Raja's tuning for that song with his beautific orchestral skills fusing out the carnatic& western idioms All are out of the world experience! My doubt is why can't he recreate the songs like that of 80s the priya, ullassa paravaighal, Guru, Raamlakshman, Annai oar Aalayam etc! He stopped doing that from the late 90s itself! The voices of balu, janumma, vasu, dassettan, jayachandran, jency, shailu, umaramanan maam,vanimma, the great susimma were the players those times! The musicians puru, viji manueul& sudhakar& others contributed to his works! He stopped the manual orchestration & everything stopped!

Awesomely decoded the song and your sweet voice added more flavor to the video presentation. Considering the difficulty of movement by Sridevi Ilayaraja was asked for a song without dancing movements. To the astonishment of everybody he composed his signature song and made out a template for non dancing movements. Even though he was in the background, SJ scored full just in the opening humming itself. I opine, the soul of the music has not been exhibited upto mark in the movie. Could have been picturised better to say what was the composer wanted to convey, especially by the solo violin.
