First bike was a 959. No riding experience ever. The thing with the 959 is the riding modes. Kept it at wet mode for a year. Grew into the race mode eventually and it completely transformed the bike.

959 is a race bike. It’s 420lbs and for a race bike it’s light but for a first bike it’s heavy. First bike should be under 400lbs and 50HP or less.

Good advice. I bought my 899 after spending 9 months riding a Grom (zero prior riding experience). Big step up, but it's not an intimidating bike. Yes the riding position takes a little getting used to, yes there's a ton of power, and yes at slow speeds it's heavy. But the torque is friendly, it's very stable, and in Wet mode I never felt like it was getting away from me. I followed my heart, and I don't regret it!

Solid advice. Unfortunately many won’t listen but to each their own. No judgment here. This is my 4th bike and I went from a 300 to 600 to 675 and I can absolutely feel the power increase and touchy throttle response with this bike. No way I’d start off with this bike. A 300cc is a good bike to get your bearings and fundamentals down and most importantly confidence. The problem is it gets old fast. 3-4 months and I was ready for a 600cc. Everyone is different so that approach might not work for others but I wouldn’t change a thing in my progression. Solid review!

Realy good vid 👍 I own one from a year, before i got a svs650 2 or 3 years, the 4th year i buy a 899 that i crashed myself (when i wait my friends in a wood zone 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️) and after i buy the 959. For its the best daily, powerful but not much, light and very handly. But defenitly notfor a beginner who will be scared or crashed. Like you said its almost a moto gp but not for the city (and you dont talk about the bbq she is ♨️😂😂) and like you told it its very expansive to buy, to maintain and unfortunatly to crash. I hot a past in biking but even with iti was fkd up when i come from 74hp to 149. Today i twist 16x hp but its not in 1 night. At first I won't it but today i won't sale it even for a v2 fk off the single arm she's too wonderful 🥰

After spending 2/3 days with it inside the track, i get used to it. Almost fall and everything but i managed it. Then i decide to check some superbike, just to have a look and stuff, i tried to sit on this 959 Panigale, it feels like feather. Imagining the acceleration alone on this bike with that weight is really scary.

I agree, especially if you’ve been riding dirt bikes. The power band on any 2 stroke is far more manic, if you have good throttle and clutch control on a 2 stroke you can handle a sport bike. I started on an RM80, then RM125, then RM250. All 2 strokes. When I bought my first new road bike 1 1/2 years ago I got a 2022 Benelli Leoncino Trail 500 because it’s ergo’s are like a dirtbike. Very upright, pegs right under you, wide higher handlebars. Now that I’ve ridden a lot of different bikes, faired sports bikes are my favorite hands down. I like them for commuting as my 100 mile round trip commute is 99% highways and interstates, and 1% is city. I like fairings for the interstate, as my mornings in the spring and fall can be 20°F with afternoons in the mid 50’s and low 60’s. Wind protection is nice when it’s that cold lol. Upgrading in the spring myself as I paid my bike off within a year and am ready for something bigger. Just looked at a 2017 959! Also looking at a 2021 Supersport 950 and a 2022 GSXR 750. Rode a GSXR 600 for a bit this summer and loved it. The i4 is so buttery smooth and easy to ride and really screams when rev’d out…

It’s 48hp and 465lbs wet for 12-15K wherever you live. For 1/3 of the cost, buy a Ninja 400 that has over 40hp and weighs 370lbs and you can save a lot of money and have similar performance.. It’s a waste to buy a watered down F900R to learn on. Besides an F900R is not a good beginner bike.

The problem isn't that you can't handle power, it's that you can and you don't have self control. Argue all you want but power is addictive and its effectiveness at making you feel the rush wears away with experience. What felt like power won't after a few months because like a drug, you need a bigger hit. Therefore, starting small and gradually working your way up will make you appreciate it and if you're smart, you will build skill along the way. Whatever do whatever you want.. no one listens. haha!

Speed is determined by you. You can go crazy even on a 400. However, the throttle response, weight and the thundering power for an inexperienced rider is where you draw the line. Riding for X amount of years has nothing to do with experience. Experience comes with mileage and skill.

  • @jasonowens3816

I’m so tired of these same troupes. Look, buy what you intend to ride, because an over confident rider who’s used to a small bike starts from day 1 going to a larger bike. Different worlds. There’s an argument that litre bikes are more tame at low rpm levels, since throttle response isn’t as sensitive. Someone who doesn’t respect the bike and respect speed will make the same mistakes either way no matter the size of the bike. Probably better to be more intimidated for that reason by something bigger.

If you have the acumen of an adult with amazing skills, grace and self control.. go buy whatever you want but also know that you’re in the top 5%… 95% of people should not be riding that bike as first bike. (R1 is just an example and so is the age 19.. u can have a 19 year old acumen at 40) Most people are DUMB.. there I said it. Sue me lol

Ya ya.. you’re the typical get bored of small bike buy liter bike, learn nothing but just ride for the high type of rider. Why are you watching this video? It’s sensible advice for new riders. Disagree with me that’s ok but your reasons better be good. So far I’m not convinced. TBH I don’t really care. Do your thang.. just stay out of my comments section with advice unless you have good reason to leave one.

Hahah I was just gonna DM you cause I was on my way to put down a deposit on either the V2 or a Supersport as my first bike (not beginner cause I have experience on a 160cc scooter and a few miles on my a few small bikes owned by my friends) Love your content tho ❤️

I really wanted the V2 in white but I guess I’ll go with the Supersport S with all the modes and stuff I think I’ll be able to handle it 👌🏼 or do you think I should get a V2 after all I have 6 years of riding experience but I’ve never had a bike like I said.

Gaurav Khanna the Supersport also has a lot of power. You can put the V2 in street mode with engine power set to low and the tech stuff like anti wheelie will help. I loved the V2 and it didn't feel intimidating at all. But you should rent one or at least test drive before buying.

Ignorant comment. I’ve owned 9 bikes in 4 years because I can and I did.. not because I was bored. I like new experiences.. I still miss my RC390 because it was a fun track toy for small tracks. But anyway, troll.. thanks for the comment. Now go watch another one.
