I've got a 2005 S2R800, great bike. Two years ago I had a breakdown on the way. Engine just cut out completely. After 10 minutes it started again, but had the same problem later that day. Called my mechanic. He pointed out: either 1) the relays under the fueltank, or 2) the crankshaft sensor. It turned out the sensor was broken. Replacing it took a Ducati dealer 5 minutes. Cost was reasonable, at around US $ 100

That's the problem you want to do what's right by letting the dealer diagnostically check for the issue and they will charge you an arm and a leg and it's a shame so what many do is go the other route by learning to do themselves and why not if they can so can you. Thanks that was interesting and knowledgeable.

Fantastic, clear video. Question for you: I have a '95 900SS/SP. I currently have no spark on the vertical cylinder. Plugs are clean, coils are new, and wires are well connected all around. I suspect the pickup coils (or sensors, whatever you like to call them... the ones down in the alternator case.) I have a new set on order. Would appreciate your thoughts on other potential culprits. Cheers!
