    Yep. I stumbled on to a nicely modded 2019 1200s. What a machine. Each mile is more comfortable and faster, and I've barely tapped it's potential. Or mine for that matter... Damn, I need to go for a ride.

    Such a great bike and very Underrated, I have ridden many bikes new and old and few feel as raw and alive in your hands👍

    Totally agree on the throttle maps. I borrowed a multistrada 1200 and just left it in sport mode even in the rain. I love the instant torque. I have a Monster S4RS

    Hey mate, I'm thinking about picking one of these up in the next few days as the 2014-2016 are peanuts ATM.. love your review it's just what I was looking for. What was the reason you sold it?

    I just fancied a change at the time more than anything, I had owned a few v twins prior to the Monster and was looking for a bit more refinement, something that was still fast but maybe a bit less "big V twin" at slow speeds (not that it is that bad at low rpm, it is fairly smooth compared to some v twins). I actually couldn't bring myself to properly sell it, my father now has it, I rode it just the other week and I couldn't believe how nice it was to ride.

    Cheers, the mirrors are HJR Products CNC mirrors, I think they were about £50, so not Rizoma expensive, but the quality is good👍

    You name is appropriate, because it needs a steering damper. Lovely bike otherwise. What model year is it?

    Which do you prefer, the Monster 1200S or the Yamaha MT09 SP? I have the new MT and am thinking of making the switch to the Monster. Thank you

  • @tankslapmoto9999

    @tankslapmoto9999

    Tough question, I think I'd have to say the Monster as an overall ownership proposition. The MT is probably a "better" bike to ride in many ways (lighter, smoother, better quick shifter, better electronics, more versatile/easier to go slow on) but the Monster is just a nicer thing to own, nicer to look at, beautifully finished, more of a brute to ride (I personally love big v twins but they are not everyone's cup of tea) much better brakes/abs settings on the Monster as well, great suspension... and mine has been super reliable too...When you park the Monster people take note and compliment it whereas people just walk past the MT09SP (which shouldn't really be a consideration but it does add to the whole pride of ownership experience)👍

    @@tankslapmoto9999 Thanks for your answer. I understand what you mean. Do you still have the Monster or did you sell it? How about maintenance on the Monster? I miss that feeling when I park the bike and turn around to look at it, I like it, but something is missing...

  • @tankslapmoto9999

    @tankslapmoto9999

    I couldn't bring myself to sell it in the end. It has been super reliable, literally not missed a beat in 3 years and something like 8k miles, not even a flat battery. Maintenance has been really easy (the desmodromic valves are a little bit harder to check for clearences but that's only every 15k I believe and the belts are good for 5 years and are dead easy to change. Even if you go the main dealer route I haven't found it to be much more expensive than the Yamaha or any other bike really.

    @@tankslapmoto9999 Well done. I think I'm going to look for a Monster before I sell the Yamaha and then I decide. Thanks for your help.

    Can't decide between one of these or the mt10

  • @tankslapmoto9999

    I had originally intended to buy the MT10 but then I had a look at the Monster in person and had to have it, the components and the quality of finish sold me in the end. The MT10 is definitely a great bike, probably more flexible if you do town riding but it lacks the specialness of the Ducati. The Mt10 is more of wheelie machine but the Monster will still power wheelie off the slightest of crests in 3rd gear, so it's much of a muchness in that regard. The Mt10 probably sounds better, although the big v twin has its own charm... its a tough one, either way you will be happy 😊
