Worked in Dyersville in 93 and 94. Rebuilt the old Amoco Terminal. Lived on Jackson. What a great town and people. Was welcomed like a long lost son.

I was born and raised in Dubuque as was my mom. She was 10 years old in 1940. Times looked pretty tough as the country was still recovering from the Great Depression. Very interesting.

@@jogmas12 nope. As soon as a democrat mayor came in and wanted to make it more "diverse" its nothing like it used to be. Shootings all the time and its just one big 💩 hole like all democrat run cities and states. I wish they would all leave. Its still a beautiful town though.

Fascinating! Never pictured the city being so cruddy in parts. Was the photographer a Dubuquer or one of those people working for the government to record poverty?

I'm from Dubuque, but I don't go quite that far back (born in '67, by which time a lot of things had changed, I'd imagine.)

For real. I wish it would go back to the way it was before that idiot mayor wanted to make it more "diverse" and welcomed all the shootings here. I wish they never took down everything they did on Dodge as well. Its sad what they've turned Dubuque into.

My parents certainly weren't rich...the neighborhood my parents owned a home in from 1964 to 2020 is still perfectly safe. My Dad worked at the Dubuque Pack from 1952 to 1992 when he retired.
