Having just found Steven Gately, I am amazed by the sorrow I feel over his loss (and he has now been singing with the angels for 12 years). At 33 I believe he was the star he was meant to be. His voice during the #Boyzone reunion had matured and developed, I believe, to a quality that would have propelled him to the solo career - fulfilling his dream. His story touched me deeply. Such stage presence combined with the lovely young man I fell in love with - only to find he was taken too soon in 2009. My heartfelt condolences to his husband and family. Being taken while sleeping, his loved ones were unable to say goodbye. The suddenness leaves a gaping wound that never closes (I speak from experience). I wish I could have known the man not the celebrity. For all his success, he was always a genuine person, Stephen. 💔

Life will never be the same without you Steo my precious. Almost 11 years since you departed this world and I still find it difficult to remember the beautiful person that you were without feeling emotional, I miss you so much. RIP sweetheart, you will always be loved and never ever forgotten. xxxx

It's heart breaking. Ronan lost his best friend. Poor guy. His heart's been torn in two and it's not repairable. Ronan's life will never be the same without Stephen

You know what I loved about this.??/ They loved him as a person and a bandmate. It didn't bother them he was gay. Beautiful guys.!!! You are trew mates.

@Brian Moffett Thanks Brian ... I always thought they had a great relationship. It so hurts that he was in an abusive relationship. This also applies to women in an abusive relationship and feel hopeless not being able to have the resources to leave. Thanks for this info.

Very emotional scenes as Dublin remembered the local lad who was born to be a star ⭐️ & will never be forgotten. Stephen’s loss came as a complete shock to me as he had a lot of life left in him!!! Let’s hope his loss brings the remaining members of Boyzone “out of the darkness and into the light” once and for all.

My favourite part is when the fellow Boyzone carrying Steo's coffin... It's just so sweet and too good to be true... I wish I could attend here tooo T_T, seeing his bandmates carrying his coffin to the hearse, to the church, until to his last place the grave...And then praying for him... I love you Steo, and I'll always love you... Hope to see you in Heaven...If I meet you, I'll kiss and hug you as hard as I can...And I hope you don't mind, even if I'm a woman ;-)

paulallan1000, I know your comment was made 8 years ago (I've only just stumbled across it) and I just want to say that I totally agree with you, plus I reckon that Bulgarian guy had a hand in it too. This case definitely needs to be re-investigated (I mean thoroughly investigated, go over every detail with a fine-tooth comb, leave no stone unturned), and if enough of us sign a petition to the Spanish Government (or whoever is in charge of this type of thing) to have the case re-opened and put enough pressure on, then maybe they will have to bow to public pressure to do so. I don't know if that's possible, but it's worth a try. Steo deserves justice and I want to see to it that he does!

I know this comment is 12 years old, but there was an autopsy carried out, it is the standard procedure with an unexpected or explained death. This was sad enough Stephen died at only 33, but you should have taken the time to read the Spanish authorities did an autopsy. He died of a congenital heart defect and every week just in the UK alone 33 young people aged 16-34 pass away from an undiagnosed heart defect like Stephen did. I read this fact years sgo and it stuck with me. False info can be damaging and distressing and Stephen's untimely passing was investigated fully.
