Dublin Pictures - Marc Jeanbourquin

Музыка

Composer: Marc Jeanbourquin
Ireland is a multi-faceted country that has developed a popular and distinctive musical culture. The first movement of Dublin Pictures reflects Irish festivals where there is dancing and traditional beer flowing. More tranquil in its feel, the second movement illustrates the landscape that can be seen from the Ha'penny Bridge, a bridge that crosses the River Liffey in Dublin. This movement highlights the wide range of the orchestra's sound colours as the musicians' voices combine with the wind and percussion to accompany the soloist. The lively and joyful rhythms of the last movement take the listener to Temple Bar, the famous tourist quarter of the city, well known for its vibrant nightlife. The music's energy and virtuosic motifs are in contrast to the previous movement and provide a spirited and festive finale.
Marc Jeanbourquin wrote this piece in three movements for Azimuts Brass in 2011. He then arranged it for Concert, Fanfare or Brass Band.

I love this piece of music. We play it with our orchestra and this arrangement does consists of three separate parts. At each part can I get a different picture places. The first part does me think of the three musketeers, walking through the streets of an old city like London. Walking with a serenade of the fanfare behind them. The hole street full of people who smiled and cheers at them from the opening of the front door. Then the slow part does me feel like i'm on the mountains as green as grass, and up on the top there's a cross near by a castle. The sun is shining warmly on my face, a breeze blows gently through my hair, and I see the calming waves of the sea. And last but not least the last part of this beautiful music. It makes me like I disappear in a world of war. 16th century with a battlefield full of warriors who bravely fight their kingdom. Riding on their horses, with their sword ready to be used. Either in short the hell breaks loose. And with stopping the last note of this arrangement is also the fight ended and there is an abrupt end to the massacre Everyone can have his own interpretation of Dublin Pictures, but this is how I feel about this music arrangement. All together I think it's a beautiful one to listen and to play in an orchestra.
