Hi Jamie. thx a lot for your videos. Especially this one. That helped me a lot, to upgrade my Dualtron Spider with a Magura MT5e. The only thing/challenge I have actually with it: Brakelights are not working. Soldered cables correctly. When I trigger the throttle and start braking, the motor gets an "off-signal" and it brakes perfectly. If i let the brake go and still pull the throttle a bit, motor get´s on again. Is there anything todo on the controller itself? Or do I need something extra connected? Checked everything twice and have no idea, why brakelights will not flash up.

I’m going to be doing this upgrade. Going to Magura MT7 Pro’s. My question is, how do you keep the Stop Light function with the MT7’s? I don’t think they have an electronic sensor or switch? Do I need to purchase something in addition? Thanks, I appreciate the help.

U can buy the embrace lever from Magura and hot swap it out to keep the sensor

+juan juan for sure it will squeak but it's really the stopping power that matters and the stock is just terrible...

Hey Jamie. Why do you need to get into the electronic of the scooter and can’t just get a break lever that will push the existing physical switch? Is it just because the mt7 does not come with a way to put the physical switch?

Hey Namchul, if you have upgraded to the MT5e on the Dualtron 3, don’t bother with the Goodridge lines. It’s really more of an aesthetic upgrade than a functional upgrade..

I am assuming you want to remove the original handlebar correct? You need to use the hot blower, it’s got adhesive which makes it difficult to remove...

If it’s running disc brakes...yes why not

Those are mixed use tires. Mud, sand and dry cement. If you had slicks with no tread you would go MUCH faster. Dry cement only. No dirt or wet.

+charlton the cutoff is actually a safety feature built in when you press the brake lever...so what I experienced wasn't a glitch...it was actually the safety feature kicking in...

Many places in Singapore but take note that the ULTRA as well as the other models of Dualtron are NOT COMPLIANT....

Hey what's up Samuel I'm from Yonkers and I have had good luck with my ultra I have put 200 plus miles with no problems yet. The only minor problem that I had was the brakes squeaking so I changed them to the avid bb7 mtn

I'm no handy man so theres no way im gonna try to do this myself and mess up my scooter. You had several professionals with professional tools work on your scooter and even though it was fast forwarded, took 25 mins!! Way too complicated for the average person to tinker with. But thanks for another informative video! I'm curious since I never experienced it, but what happens when the ultra cuts off? and how do you fix it? If the electronic brakes does in fact put a lot of stress on the controller, they should have made the upgraded brakes standard. Yes the price would be higher, but in the long run would be more efficient and less future maintenance. I really wish I'd known about this issue before receiving my scooter. I would've asked the seller to install the upgraded brakes before sending it to me. How much did they charge you for installing the brakes? Anyways, thanks again Jamie for another great video!!

+nicc0tine69 the power cut off I experienced was a mistake on my part...I had the brake lever depressed which is a safety feature built into the ultra..meaning to say, if you're at standstill, and pressing on the brake levers, applying throttle does nothing. I mistook that for a power cut...the entire installation cost me almost a grand in singapore dollars. I am certain an ebike shop where you are will be able to sort the dualtron easily...

ok I see. Im in no way complaining about the brakes. I love my ultra!! Performs as I expect and hasnt given me any problems yet. I like the way you modified your scooter though. Even right out of the box in stock mode the scooter looks good, but all the modifications you did makes it look even more badass.

Hi Jamie, unfortunately there is no screwdriver shop in Germany like Synergy in Singapore. I do not even get the Mt7S brakes. Can you in at Minimotors or? to know what the Ultra has: the IS, PM 5,6,7 I do not know which brakes I could block here? Also, my steering head bearing moves, it has play and moves down and down. +Thomas Friedberg I wish I could help you out but for a start, go with Shimano if Magura isn't available. If your steering column moves, there is a bolt directly underneath that you can tighten with an Allen Key and lastly, if you're referring to your suspension sagging...definitely try to get in touch with minimotors in Korea, they should be able to help you out...

I find super that you answer. I tried to pull the screw down, unfortunately without success. It still moves back and forth. As if the steering head bearings had been knocked out. Have today Minnimotors attributed, wait for what happens. Well I'll try it with Shimano or Ball Bearino 5?

+Thomas Friedberg there are only 2 reasons for it to rock back and forth, one being the screw beneath the stem and the other being the folding mechanism which you have to tighten very well...once both are done, there should be slight play as well, no way to get rid of it entirely.

We have tightened the screw under the front wheel and the big screw on the folding mechanism. Unfortunately, it has not even brought 1 mm. It wobbles just as before and will be more and more.

Ok thank u for your help. I'm in New York and there is not one dealer here I'm going to call nycewheels or propel bikes to see if they can install the same brakes that u have God bless

hello Jamie, actually a good idea to show the installation so, but what I personally do not like at all is the strange brake light switch, there are better solutions, this way I look more like a compromise than expert! I asked about Magura and there are even two different solutions for that! First a pressure switch which is installed in the oil line and secondly a magnetic switch, both look more professional! I personally like the solution with the cable ties not so much! ... as soon as mine is installed I will present it here, but it will take a while, because my vacation in the Philippines is due first! with best regards from Vienna / Austria!

Yes a straightforward solution will be to just do away with the pressure switch unless you want the rear brake light...
