Nate and Abby, you two are probably the two most loveable people in RC on KZread, when I have a bad or sad day, all I have to do is watch one of your videos and it makes be feel so much better! This morning I had the dream where my Mom told me my Dad, had died, which he did on the 14th of February this year, so I am watching this to get my mind off it a bit, and not be so sad.

I have one of these and it's really good. (looks 1/11th) Two motors enclosed in the chassis make it quiet, they also give it a lot of torque. Being light weight it flips over easy going up hill. Half throttle, good choice. Great review, thanks

I just ordered this truck after several hours of researching the " bang vs buck" factor. I can't see a downside to this rc as upgrades will find their way to make it comparable to the big boy name brands. I owned a terrific Axial crawler several years ago and I can't justify that expense with all the great, outstanding options available now in our flourishing economy. Love the channel, just subscribed several days ago before I began my rekindled relationship with rc's. Thanks!

I have this and it is/was a blast to run. My trouble came from driving on a site where they are raising the land. Grit got into the vents and since I didn't realize how much had gotten in... my gears stripped over the next few runs. Waiting on replacement motors and a drive shaft now. So... when run on a gritty soil one might want to open it up and check on the engine bay. I'm also going to cover the vents with some mesh to keep grit out as best I can.

If you have the motors placed right you can get a more fine rotation and less pause time between the coils and magnets of both motors, preventing the motors to slow down less often and keep torque for longer periods of time.

Hello. Just a little info on this model. I purchased one for my son about a month ago and he loves it. It's pretty fast and has plenty of power for off-road. I've already upgraded the shocks to some adjustable, oil-filled, metal ones that made it run much better off road. Also, I've installed larger batteries - they can be strapped to the upper side of the inner body with no issues. The only real negative so far is the pinion gears are made of an extremely soft metal alloy which wore out after just a few batteries (And that's cause they ride on a plastic spur gear!). I applied heat to remove them so that I could install some replacements, and they literally melted when I applied heat to them! Finding replacement gears wasn't easy either - I had to buy gears made for 2mm shafts and drill them out to 2.3mm. I then used a metal C-clamp to press fit them onto the motor shafts. The truck is running strong again! The only other complaint I have is the small, hard-to-reach (when a larger battery is used), on/off switch. Overall, I think it's a great little 4 wheel drive RC truck! I'll check in with any other updates if anyone wants me to.

Jeff Barragan have you tried a 3s battery or just a larger capacity 2s? What batteries are you using successfully. I did think a large capacity strapped on top would be OK. Car not arrived yet, but ideally wanted the upgrades for when it arrives. Are they 90mm shocks?

  • @jeffbarragan8124

    @jeffbarragan8124

Jason, the batteries I bought are Floureon 2S 35C 2200mah LiPos. In order to use them I removed the battery cover, then cut a small hole to let the power leads hang outside of the battery compartment. Next, I held a battery strap in place (running along the underside of the cover), then snapped the cover back into place. Finally, I placed a small piece of Velcro on the top side of the battery cover as well as onto each battery to ensure they wouldn’t slip out of the strap. This setup has worked well, and the 2200mah batteries give nearly 20 minutes of run time. And yes, I have used a 3S battery for a short time, but I was afraid this would cause excessive wear if done for very long. Also, yes the replacement shocks I bought are 90mm.

"Low" and "high" "gear" are different amounts of available power controlled by the electronics. Theres is no change in mechanical parts when you switch between low and high mode so its perfectly safe to switch the mode at any time. I think you're right throttle is limited to 50% because it doesn't have only a speed limit but a power limit too in low mode.

This truck is awesome, but the drive train is its weakness and it's not an easy repair. Actually it would take patience I just don't have to fix. My gears striped and I only had the truck for a couple weeks. If you get the 9125 I would say not to slam on the brakes or jam it into reverse just to preserve the gears. I also wouldn't take it off big jumps. While the rest of the car held up to the big jumps, the transmissions didn't. I am just hoping that they make this thing brushless and improve the gearing. It would be a sick truck, essentially like a q901 but 1/10 size. Thanks for this video guys! I love your videos!

I got sucked in on Amazon to buy the extra 2 batteries that are larger then the original. That is a challenge to stuff the wires and bend them on both sides, plus the charging wire and get the cover back on. I haven't had a problem running both batteries and the cover popped off. It might have had a wire interfering with it locking into place and just popped out over time.

some of the larger crawlers use two motors for more power. you can get a dual motor mount for the axial trucks to use two motors.

Update. I ended up putting Industrial Strength Velcro on the floor of the battery compartment and on my batteries - got tired to trying to snap the battery cover on. Now, I don't have to fool around with the cover and the battery stays put.

I imagine the two motors are in series for low power to take minimum current when going along the level then when more power is needed you switch the motors into parallel. This is how some electric trains work.

You can switch gears while moving, just let go of throttle and shift then give it throttle. I owned a older e maxx that had high and low.

Thank you for this nice review. I got two of these. One for my daughter and one for myself to play with her. She is 9 so she stays in low mode for now. I got 2 spare batteries so we can play a little longer. Any recommendation on gas shocks? Would Traxxas TRA7660 work? And should I get 4 or 6?

The fan intakes are right where dirt blasts off the front wheels. I'm going to shield them without impeding air flow.

May be it is switching in the second motor. some thing interesting are the motors geared the same or one for more torque or speed.

I used Velcro to run a 2000. And a little tape. No cover but it works nice. Stuffing the stock battery in is difficult
