You all have to keep in mind: Suzie isn't saying that Dual Forms are bad. She's stating possible pros and cons of what a nail tech *may* experience if they have never used dual forms and are using them for the first time. Furthermore, putting two forms underneath one nail like what everyone is saying as a nail tech doesn't seem efficient to me. It defeats the purpose of using JUST the Dual Forms to do nails and takes longer. (especially since in a real world setting you WOULD file the underside with an e-file to make it smooth.) At the end of the day, it's a SKILL. Not just an "instant nail" without work. It's WHY Suzie's saying you need SOME form of knowledge to understand how to work with these products and why good nail techs are educated in their craft first BEFORE buying within their industry.

Sculpted nail with form will always look nicer than a dual form. IMO Thank you Suzie! Let's face it... If you're doing nails. You should learn how to apply acrylic with forms. Practice makes perfect and to me using the dual forms will NOT help me in any way. Just hinder my capabilities. For those of you STILL making sideways comments about these darn dual forms. This IS a channel called ' nail career education ' She knows what she's doing and talking about. Just because she prefers the regular form doesn't mean she's 'trashing ' your precious dual forms LMBO

Teresa DOlan Trends are what they are: trends. They come and go. The problem is people more want to see their favorite KZreadr react to a popular thing. Once they don't get the reaction they wanted, frustration sets in and "they didn't do it right" while comparing the KZreadr with another. It's awful because Suzie created this channel to inform and educate.

+lnuma92 that's the perfect way to put it. Susie has said time and time again that for her entire career (30+ years) as a nail tech she's worked in acrylic and nail forms. It shouldn't be a surprise that she doesn't work as well with dual forms. She's said in her videos she just enjoys trying new things and showing people the process that even experts goes through with new techniques/products. People need to cut her some slack.

Suzie has spent decades perfecting her art and she has the skill to build a nail without this. So I think it’s great she is showing this but it is a short cut and there are clearly problems compared to building the nail yourself. I don’t know if I would be super happy if I was paying for a sculpted set of nails and they whipped out these. Because I am paying for a nail techs expertise. I can literally do these forms myself.

They really do help me out when i'm having problems with my grip. Hayley Sahara Then if you want the products to last, you have to actually understand and know WHAT the professional does to have the nails last the 3 to 4 weeks that you all are EAGER to make last eons and be foolproof. That means you have to have proper prep and prime techniques, understand what a well structured nail looks like, as well as how to properly file a nail shape. As a nail tech, as much as you all say you "aren't professionals" you seem to be eager for free professional knowledge that we've spent years and money to perfect and master. I mean, do what you want, but don't get greedy when not every bit of intel isn't readily avaliable to you. 😐

She already gave her opinions on the Kiss Home Kit, the Cornstarch Nails with both regular and gel polish, and now this. It's almost like people are wanting her to be a bandwagon KZreadr than wanting to come up with her own ideas (especially since it seems like the "Bandwagon Videos" get the most views on her channel now) and not do her own designs.

For everyone who keeps asking Suzie to use a regular form and dual. No it won’t work!!! The paper is customized to her nail, free edge and finger to make a perfect nail that appears to be her actual nail. The dual form has a different arch. It will compromise the paper form as soon as she applies it to the nail. This woman is very talented and knows exactly what she is doing!!! I watch all of Kirsty’s videos as well she did it over a tip that was glued in place. She also had different dual forms. So please stop comparing these two amazing talented women!! All those variables need to taken in to account. I don’t agree that you can’t buff the dual nail on top. You can do whatever you need to do to make it as custom to each persons nail. How do I know this info you might ask. I have gone to school. I have years of experience with nails!! I love your videos Suzie. I wish you lived closer so I could attend your classes. You never know enough, I learn new things every day!!! ❤️💕❤️

You can use a tip though with the form, and since I do both sculpted and have just recently tried the dual forms, I can say Suzie didn't apply the form correctly. She didn't push down the form low enough into her cuticle area so was left with too much natural nail showing at the bottom, and she didn't flip her hand over to shape in the curve and remove excess product while it was still soft enough to do. So this isn't really a fair review of the two methods. They both come out pretty much the same when you use the forms correctly.

Thanks for sharing your your advice and knowledge with us. Popits/Dual Forms are just a fad in my opinion. These are great for the non professional to use at home but I will always pay to have my nails done by a licensed nail tech because the results are always better and sculpted to fit my nail. Kirsty had the same problem under her nail popits (bulky and thick) and she only solved it by using a tip on the nail first. So why bother it’s double the work. I don’t blame you for not using or liking the popits you do a far superior job sculpting with a nail form. Keep the videos coming, they are always full of great advice, hints and tips. Thanks again for sharing your opinions with us. 🐨

Thank you so much, Suzie! You convinced me to try paper nail forms instead of the dual forms with this super helpful video! I have the same problems with dual forms that you showed us here. I get lifting no matter how well I prep my nail because the forms cannot fit precisely enough to my cuticle area. If I file them down, then I have to touch it up which, as you said, ruins the point of quick pop-off forms. I have long hair, and let me tell you, every little strand will slip under that tiny lifted cuticle area created by the dual form and suddenly POP! My whole nail is off, or, even worse, I get a nasty hair stuck in my nail. The underside of the nail also often looks unfinished, which is not great if you want long nails where the undersides are visible or even clear nails. No hate to the pop-offs if you love them, but they do not seem to be a good fit for my nails. I thought I was just really bad at dual forms, but watching this I see these may be problems I don't have much control over.

I’m a qualified beauty therapist, and home taught acrylic nail tech from your vids (just a lover that likes do my own 😂) I think you teach the best way!!! I’ve learnt so much from your video!! But these ways; tips and “reverse form”, make the same nail for every client. You’ve thought me to adapt to every client like any other treatment that I do! Honestly I think it takes more skill to do it your preferred way. ❤️❤️

That ridge would drive me crazy. I like my nails to be perfect. That's why I do them myself. However, the dual forms seem like they could be good for making a quick nail-tip and then laying the acrylic over it. That way you can still customize your cuticle area, a best of both worlds maybe. Can you use them over a tip you have already placed? Maybe that would get rid of the bulkiness underneath?

Em Tims you actually can and thats what people do , you can file off the dual form like a nail tip to fit your cuticle area not to mention she had to press down the cuticle area and hold it with finger or clip so there is no ridge in that area and its flushed till its cured and as for the bulk near the free edge she had to pat down the product after she put it on her nail to even it out she basically did none of these steps I just assume she doesn't know what she doing at all .

arielsings2 Because people want a "pro input" (aka reaction) on a bandwagon trend is all. Then when they don't get the reaction they were expecting, people claim "You didn't do it right." Too many people in the comment keep saying, "Well, why don't you use the paper form under the Dual Form?" Because it would defeat the purpose of using either in the first place. Just check the comments for her Cornstarch Nail videos. *So* many people bashed her even though common sense would tell you the trend is bogus. People WANTED it to work just because Suzie was making a video about it and were upset when the expectations weren't met. 😐

You can prepare all ten nails with acrylic and dual forms before application. You don't have to hurry at all. Before you begin, you mark where the nail bed is and you put that in last. Shape the tip and do not fill in the bed until you're ready to apply it. It's one of the easiest applications I've used in 26 years. There's a lot of good videos here to show you the correct way. The old rules don't apply. If it's done correctly, all of the strength and structure is built right in. You are the absolute master of sculpture btw.

I think the paper allows you to skip the step of sanitizing the forms, a big plus in a busy salon, but I also think the metal forms have too many limits for building a nail. For example, they are too short for someone who'd like the long thin stiletto shape. You also can't trim a metal form to get a better fit like you could with the paper.

Wonderful for clients that dont have a lot of time or if you do it yourself at home.

Rewatch the video and actually listen. She's using the pop it the way someone who's inexperienced and unlicensed would use it. I do both sculpted, and dual forms. The forms are a far less complicated process, and also require less filing since they start off smooth. For the non-dominant hand they are near miraculous when you are doing your own!!! You can also add in more product to fill in any areas that you need to. I get perfect nails every time with forms, and in 1/2 the time! Fills are easier too. Suzie, show everyone how to do fills with the forms. No one has done that yet.

See now to me the sculpted nail looks better. That underside thing is awful and also shows that YOU ALWAYS WILL HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK. Yes you can use a tip on the bottom to avoid that but the whole point of using forms is to not use tips. And the structure from the dual forms would not make me feel comfortable enough to have clients walk away with and them not break. If you want to use dual forms on yourself and you will maintain them then this is an adequate method, but as she said they are not made for filling so you would have to remove it and apply new ones every time. I personally will stick to regular forms and tips.

Dante Velasquez i wouldn't want this method if I were having them done in a salon but they are a good option for a diy like me. Pro nails aren't in my budget, but even so I have had too many bad experiences with techs overfiling my thin natual nails to create a bondable surface - very painful. For me having nails that aren't as nice as Suzies is an acceptable trade. I have actually done a fill in with the forms, just making sure the nail surfaces are very clean first.

As I get more comfortable with working acrylic and the liquid/powder mix, it gets better. I have not tried with a tip as I wear my nails at an active length and my natural nails are already past the ends of the fingers, but tips could be a great method for those that are irritated by the underside and don't want to use a drill, etc. I use the end of my brush to refine the acrylic on the underside while it is still a bit malleable, helps a bit.

Both Kirsty and Suzie are professionals but neither of them know how to use every new system or know every single new technique. Also with the “technology” of building nails changing rapidly there are bound to be things that one tech is good at while another struggles with it, that’s why continued training and learning from other techs is so helpful. Suzie clearly recognizes the benefit of that because she is always up to try new systems and weigh the pros and cons (this video is a prime example). A true professional never stops learning and growing in their field.

You're right - doing this with Acrylic is difficult because the limited amount of time you have to work it right there where you want it. But when I worked with Dual Forms the first time I did it with Gel (like you did) and I also didn't like that because it squished out everywhere and sticked to everything. Then I tried a Hybrid Gel last time I did my nails and this worked much better. Suzie, you already have two videos on Dual Forms now. But maybe it would worth it to do a " Gel vs. Hybrid vs. Acrylic" - video to show the pros an cons of unsing them all with Dual Forms in one video. I would really love to see that!

Stephen Jennings I'm sure Suzie knows that. She's not saying Dual Forms are bad. She's saying possible pros and cons a nail tech may experience if they were to transition to Dual Forms for the first time and what may be the experience. At the end of the day, nail technology is a *skill.* Not just something you follow a video for and you're instantly good. People take years to perfect what they know and practice. lnuma92 possibly does but rules are made to be broken :) and if it saves work and time, cost it into the price and it’s a win win. I just wanna see if it would work and be a good outcome. Dual forms scare me due to the apex being so shy, so I’m not sold just yet but maybe if using a form underneath this will keep thickness in a perfectly smooth area making it better for strength? I dunno but it’s worth an ask and a try out

  • @lnuma92

    @lnuma92

April Lyons "Rules are meant to be broken :)" The rules are there so they will work everytime. If that were the case, then people who are licensed like me wouldn't need a license. Because then EVERYONE would be able to do nails. That's insulting. 😐 You have to understand what a properly structured nail looks like to make sure they last 3 to 4 weeks if not longer. You could just use a sculptured form for that. You have to also know proper prep and Prime techniques to ensure they last.

At the end of the day her channel is *Nail Career Education.* If you were truly a fellow nail tech you'd understand that it's HER decision if she wants to break rules especially in most situations in creating a great nail certain principles still apply.

Ethel Bailey Had no plan for my comment to be an attack. My bad if it did. 😓 As a nail tech I *get it.* I follow the Instagram of so many different artists and learn their skills. The point is I (and other KZreadrs) don't HAVE to follow each other. As much as it IS a community that can always keep growing, we still have to respect each other and the creators who do their work. I'm subscribed to both channels too. I enjoy the work of both. Others should too.

It's definitely better to use a Form, but it also depends on what people are comfortable with. Dual Forms are good for doing your own nails, and they take some trial and error. You have to hold it down at the nail bed, with moderate pressure (not too much, not too little). Some may ooze out the sides, so you just scrape it off while it's still wet. If it comes out the underside, brush it up towards the tip. Also, if you have some experience, you can always use the nail as a platform afterwards and add to the structure. They're good in a pinch. Thanks for sharing Suzie.

Use a tip underneath. And you can definitely fill with a dual form 😀 just take off polish, put a tiny bead at the cuticle and then press on top. You might want to smooth them out with a file, but it's quite quick to do. I actually always file on top at the cuticle when using dual forms. Just to get a nicer edge.

The point of a dual form is you don't have to sculpt and/or file the nail. putting a tip on actually helps the not filing part. as you wouldn't have to file underneath. Therefore doesnt defeat the object at all. Some people just cant use a brush to sculpt accurately, like myself, who has issues with grip. yes tips take time to size/fit, but so do the dual forms, as long as you get everything ready first the process is actually quicker for people who struggle building a nail from scratch. and did i mention the minimal filing? it's easier on the wrists and makes for less dust too. Either way of doing it takes skill. No one way is the right way. Just some techniques may be easier for people who struggle. Dual forms are a skill all of their own and how you use them is up to you.

YourDadIsIzzy I agree with you. There are those of us who cannot sculpt, especially with our non dominant hand. Dual forms allow us to create a perfect nail surface without filing. People who are adept at sculpting...by all means, sculpt away. But there are those of us who are adept at dual forms and use them with no problems at all. 😊

I sometimes use my duel forms but I hated the under side, until one day I flipped my hand about 5 seconds after I put the form onto the nail bed and I lightly pushed the acrylic into a nice shape and made sure it had to curve. Once it’s setting enough I start to pinch the end to give the nail a c curve with my fingers. It usually pops off at this point allowing me to pinch with my tool until set. It really makes it look so much better because you have a smooth service above and below!
