🤙 DT Swiss Hubs / Make them louder or quieter or upgrade them.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
You can make your DT Swiss hubs louder or quieter. Also there are higher engagement upgrades available. I explore all of this in this video. #mtb #mountainbike #dtswiss

You dont need to remove the cassette to get to the ratchet

i was thinking the same..:)
First time owner of some DT Swiss hub wheels, will definitely do this as the noise is driving me nuts. And I say this coming from a set of Hope Pro 4 hubs which are notoriously loud, I think the issue is that the DT Swiss hub is much more metallic sounding than anything else I've ridden - and that includes FSA and Fulcrum which also have different pawl designs. On the plus side it's currently making me pedal more, anything to avoid the buzzing noise!

mine is too quiet. i just replaced the grease with chain lube and my pro 4 hubs are still way louder. disappointment.
So.. it sounds like you can work on your hub without removing your cassette. Just pull on the cassette itself, that will give you access to you hub ratchet system. FYI. :D

Also, screwing on you cassette just-a-tiny-bit-too-little may end up damaging the threads in your cassette of even the ones on your cassette body since you yank on it and all the force is put into one or two loose fitting threads. in other words: dont...

Yes, I do this. It works fine. Just yank, the cassette parallel to the axle. Then put it back by mashing it on. It is not an risk of falling off because the through axle and the dropouts clamp it shut.
Nice video, but you didn't show which parts you actually applied the grease on. Was it on the two ratchet rings?

Yep lol
I got a loud wheelset I use on paved surfaces so pedestrians can hear me coming, personally I cant stand a loud hub lol on singletrack in the woods I can see how a loud hub is helpful for others awareness on the trails

It sounds like people like loud hubs, and completely silent hubs haha. I can see why people like both ends of the spectrum.

@@wheelzandgillz Yeah me too! I've never had silent hubs. Would be interesting to see what that's like.

It's still working as well as the day I got it!
How much end float should you expect in the free hub ?
@SlightlyRadMTB
Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what end-float is.. I don't notice any wheel-float (side to side) while the wheel is spinning. Feel free to inform me :)

Uh I mean how much does the free hub go in and out ?
@SlightlyRadMTB
Жыл бұрын
@@user-nn4wj8gk9s I don't notice any movement.. The sprigs do allow for some movement and engagement of the ratchet (as far as I can tell).
why didn't you take the hub apart without taking the cassette off?
@SlightlyRadMTB

Because I'm an idot lol. I realized that I could do this without taking the cassette off later on.
