    Thanks for an excellent channel. I'm in Denmark and purchased one of the old lab scopes (Reichert Diastar). Good quality (although a 100 w(!) bulb. There seems to be little help when buying camera (500 D eos) so I am at a loss as to adapters. Is it possible at all to find something usable or should I give it all up. It does have a trinocular.

    What a great videos you are creating for the world. Really appreciate that. Would you be able to do a complete video on how to set up the DSLR camera to get good-quality images? Once the lens is removed, it loses the automatic features and cannot focus as well. How can we change the settings in the camera then? I am trying my Nikon SMZ1270 stereo mic with Nikon D5300 connected through a F-mount. I'm getting blurry images on my camera. Pl help. thanks

    Whoa! I have been waiting for a video like this. I am up to my eyeballs in extreme macro photography. I have achieved fantastic results using microscope objectives mounted to a bellows, or a telephoto lens. However, prior to that I bought a nice stereo microscope hoping to get even higher magnification. I also purchased the " no-name " DSLR camera adapter. Mine actually does have a brand name that I won't mention but it doesn't matter. The resulting image quality is nothing short of ridiculous. When I saw your video it was amazing that you went through everything that I did personally. I have high hopes for this adapter and immediately ordered one along with the adapter for my Canon EOS. I should have it in a couple of days and I'm very excited to try it out. If image quality is that much better as it appears to be as shown in your video, you have solved a problem that has been bugging me for several years. Many thanks to you for putting this out there on KZread.

    Did the new adapter solve your problem? I have the same problem. I have one like Oliver's original and the verdict is not good. It is a tiny bit fuzzy no matter what I do. Was contemplating buying the better adapter if that will fix it.

  • @robertstorost629

    @robertstorost629

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well, the short answer is no. Having said that it is everything that Oliver said it was and is Far and Away much much better than the no name one that you apparently purchased. I have an amscope stereo microscope And when you look through the eyepiece the images are incredibly clear and sharp. However nothing I have purchased Will convey that to my Canon 60D or Canon 6D cameras. Perhaps I am spoiled because I had already been extremely successful using an AM scope 4X microscope objective Attached to a Nikon bellows. And also a Nikon 10x objective mounted to a 70-300 MM zoom lens. You can see how this is done At Allan Walls photography on KZread. Along with focus stacking the images using this setup are nothing short of incredible. But I wanted higher magnification and microscope objectives get very pricey above 10x. So I wanted to try a setup on my microscope. Perhaps I don't fully understand the process, but I think I do. And the results I have obtained with the microscope and a camera adapter Have all been disappointing. I guess it all depends on what you are going to use it for . I am after extremely high resolution images of insects and other three-dimensional objects at Extreme magnification using focus stacking . Four flat objects I don't think you would have any problem at all. Hope this helps

    @@robertstorost629 Thank you very much for your reply. I may just keep my $179 for now and use my 5mp eyepiece USB camera. It seems to do a better job than my Nikon D-7200 but I don't think it's the 7200's fault...I think it is the no-name adapter. But I paid $114 for it and another $179 on top of that for the "better" adapter is just getting too far out of my comfort zone for only marginal improvements. I think the objective lens/bellows combo might be the way to go but then, like you, I think that negates the reason I got my stereo microscope. I'm just doing this for fun. I am not making money with it. Thanks again for your very helpful reply.

    I was just about to order it, until the fine print says "a camera model specific T-Ring adapter is required and sold separately". I thought the price was reasonable until I read that. I will be ordering the AMSCOPE edition if this. I just hope it looks as clear as when you demonstrated in the video today and not milky/fuzzy looking. I will wait a couple days to see if anyone replies to my comment to warn me from getting the AMSCOPE brand or not. Reviews are pretty mixed.

    You need to find a T2 adapter ring for your camera. This will then allow you to use (DSLR) adapters for the microscope (The T2 ring goes between the camera and the adapter).

    Hi. If I have a binocular head and wish to use this adapter with a 0.8kg DSLR will the camera be too heavy? Do I risk bending the tube or damaging the structure of the head?

  • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    Whether the microscope is strong enough or not depends much on the microscope itself. I have seen microscopes where the tube for the eyepiece is not very well connected, and where it is indeed possible for it to break off. I would - to be on the safe side - support the camera with either a small tripod or a microphone stand. It is not only a stability issue. Due to the vibration of the camera, you might also not get a good image quality. Once you set up everything with an addtional camera support (tripod etc), you can then use either the screen of the camera or an external monitor connected to the camera to do microscopy. The setup takes some time, but once it is set up, you can leave it and do microscopy over a screen (you can connect many DSLRs via HDMI directly to a monitor, without the use of a computer).

    What happened to this adapter? The link no longer works. The old adapter is inferior because the glass is so small comparatively and also the quality of the optics, the quality of the lens itself, is low. I am interested in this larger aperture adapter, but you don't list the name. Maybe it is no longer available?

    Hi, thanks for the informative video. How does the optics compare with the olympus nfk adapter? I'm currently using a nfk 3.3x with an eos full frame and this adapter seems nice as well.

  • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    3 жыл бұрын

    The NFK can not be compared to this one. Olympus optics are designed to work with Olympus optics to correct lens errors and they also work well with others. The NFK has the advantage that the image and eyepeices are parfocal. Drawback might be that 3.3x is a bit much as it is designed for larger sensor cameras. You have the Olympus adapter "L"? If you already have a fully functioning Olympus adapter system, stick to that one.

    @@MicrobehunterMicroscopy Thank you for the insight. I will keep my current set up. I use a custom made "copy" of the adapter L with an EOS mount that I connect to a 5D mk2. I am using an older BH2 (BHTU) with the included DPlan objectives. I settled on the nfk 3.3x as the 2.5x is currently rare and about double the price on the 2nd hand market. Please keep making these videos, they are informative and great!

    Why are corrective optics needed?

  • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    3 жыл бұрын

    Some (high end) microscope manufacturers have designed "compensating" optics. These work together with the objectives of the microscope. This way any additional lens errors and aberrations are corrected. Most adapters these days are not company specific and are general purpose. They are not specifically designed to correct these lens errors, and they still (hopefully) might work reasonably well.

    Hello MicrobeHunter, I really like your videos, but I have to watch them many times to be able to understand you since I don't speak English. I have a question for you. In some videos, you don't recommend putting the DSLR camera on the eyepiece due to instability and weight. But, do you consider that a photo taken from the phototube has higher quality than a photograph taken from the eyepiece? I have a stereomicroscope and i´m thinking in buy a trilocular stereomicroscope to increase the quality of my photographs. Thank you very much for your help.

  • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

    The quality should be about the same becasue when you connect a DSLR to the microscope, you have to remove the eyepiece anyway. So it does not matter. If you connect it to the eyepiece port, then you need additional support.

    The lens is horrible! I purchased this kit due to the large lens and extendible tube. But it does not extend enough even for a non-full frame camera. Once fully extended, the barrel is unstable and a little loose because it only has one screw! The biggest fault, however, is the lens as it is impossible to get an even clear photograph. It can only focus in the central part, ending with unfocused borders and even noticeable purple fringing. By the way, my telescope is fine - its a modern binocular Olympus. I bought this adapter kit with the intention of upgrading from my AmScope USB microscope camera. But, even though I could get superior images with my DSLR (Nikon D7000), I could not do so due to the poor quality lens of this kit. Very disappointed!
