Your video is perfect. No nonsense, straight and to the point. We didn't have to listen to 30 minutes of rambling before you started your tutorial. And then another hour of rambling during your tutorial. This is by far the best video I've watched on mudding ,and I have watched a ton of them. I love how you keep it simple but at the same time you are teaching what is important and why, and showing the how to. I hope I can find more of your videos. Great job!

Thank you for this simple, easy to follow video. My husband was killed in a car crash 4 months ago. We were in the middle of finishing our basement. Thankfully, he had all the drywall up and the first coat of mud on. I still need to do a little sanding here and there, but it looks like the first coat is maybe the trickiest. I feel more confident that I can tackle the 2nd and 3rd coats now. Screw holes were easy...that was always my job anyway! 😂

the first time you try tape and mud, it's usually a disaster. make sure you start with a good drywall hanging job, otherwise it's really hard. Also, watch out for little "crusties" - pieces of hard mud leftover from previous coat that find their way into your mud, making a horrible mess. I am not a professional but I can sort of do this now.

Only way to learn is doing it. So you had a bad job, let me tell you these so called pros who did my house did the worst drywall job I've ever seen ive fixed most of it, but it still has some really nasty looking spots. The worst thing you can do is paint it becuse pait will clog your sandpaper trying to fix it later. I recommend buying a 4" grinder and flap disk to remove the paint it really dusty but really fast. Pratice makes perfect. Do a 2x4 wall with conners inside and outside in your garage with seams and nail or screw holes and practice doing it untill you learn the techniques its a skill you have to learn. Set this guy at a desk he can't add 2+2 but by God his craftsmanship is perfect. Ok maybe he can add but you get the idea were all good at somthing becuse thats what we do. But you had to learn that skill. Hit a nail with a hammer some guys will dent the shit out of the board and bend the nail and some guys will drive it in the first swing. Trust me he bent a hell of a lot of nails learning how to do that in his day but he didn't give up.

I have been putting up sheet rock in my basement by myself and I have never done it before. I told my dad and my husband that by the last piece I am sure I would get that one measured right and not have random holes where I missed studs. I am certain I have spent twice as much on sheet rock than what was actually needed for this room do to my own mistakes. With that said, given my sheet rock adventure I have massive amounts of mudding to do. I am thankful to have come across your video. Here's why. In your video you speak loudly (but not too loud), clearly, and at a normal pace. Thank you. You also kiss it yet are very informative without information overload as to why you are doing it that way which makes sense to people like me. Also, by keeping it simple I didn't get bored, lost, or confused. Some of these videos the people have been doing it for so long they forget they are making an informative video so they run through things really fast. It is second nature to them. Thank you for not being one of them. I really enjoyed this video. My basement fiasco doesn't seem so overwhelming anymore and while I know I have made some mad mistakes on the sheet rock I am more confident now that in the end it will all work out as long as I get the mudding right and no bubbles. It will just take me three times as much mud than the average person haha. Oh, one last thing. I had no clue you were supposed to add water to the mud. That, in itself, explains so much.

Thank you for this video! The side lighting was helpful to see the texture of what you were doing. I've learned that mudding drywall is a balance of "good" versus "good enough," especially the first coat or so. It's useful to see what a pro considers "done."

Thank you for this video. We just finished the mudding in our bathroom. I honestly mudded the whole wall (very small bathroom). Your video was very helpful since we are working on the bedroom now. The outside pressure on the knife was good to know. I found out that going over wet mud with a damp sponge helps to take off excess mud and i didnt have to sand as much if at all.

Great video! I've been hanging and finishing all of my life and the way you explained everything is awesome! I've never personally coated tape that's still wet and just waited till it dried just because of how I was taught by my dad but it would save a whole day of drying if you coat the tape the same day. I learn something everyday. I really liked how humble you are and not like some videos where people act like their way is the only way. Glad you didn't bust out those corner knives that just make a mess and never work right. You know the ones that you cost both sides at once.
