Phay Thi is a Tampuan Indigenous woman married and has four children. To make a living, she works as a farmer. Additionally, she cuts bamboo trees to turn them into equipment needed to dry rice and fish. This equipment she not only uses herself but also sells to earn some extra money. She explains: "Even though it becomes increasingly difficult to find bamboo trees, I will continue this work until I die - it is what I know. For the future, I wish that the next generations will preserve and remember this skill and that they protect the forest from being cut down."
