Great job Corina, they look so natural. They did not loose their colours. I have dried many flowers but I used sand instead because I did not have the sílica gel. Anyway, they were wild flowers which are not as thick and fleshy as orchids. Your Spike and flowers turned out great, congratulations.

Thank you Fernanda and I heard other people drying flowers in sand in the heat of the sun, I guess is the same process just the silica gel is faster, how long where you keeping them in the sand and did you use a certain type of sand?

@@imadethis8953 Hi Corina, it was long ago, don't remember how long it took, no more than 2 weeks though. I used sand from the nearby beach. I kept them in the shade. But as I Said wild flowers are sort of thin, they do not keep much water in their structures.

It does look very nice even dried! What are you going to use it for? I am wondering if there is a trick to keep the spike stem green when dried.

Thank you Orchideya, I am using them in my decorations with this one I am not sure yet but I dry them anyway so I won't miss them. The stem is pretty thick so I can actually paint it if I wanted to be green.

Thank you Holley, I am glad you like how it turned. Yes you can reuse silica gel forever, you just have to cure it, bake it until the orange beads turn into blue again.

Hahaha, I have orchids for many years and I like to preserve them sometimes, I am happy it worked with a spike it looks so nice. This orchid is giving my two flower spikes per year and they stay in bloom for months so I enjoy her flowers enough :)

Canalul tău cu plante din câte îmi amintesc ai trimis lui Gicu's plants ceva și el a menționat despre ori la Todd's tropicals că urmăresc copăceii lui. Iar acest canal am văzut în descriere la un video cu plantele tale și am fost curios să văd. Eu am hobby, cresc copăceii bonsai :) Îmi pare bine să văd oamenii noștri pasionați de verde, de frumos :)

Multumesc de raspuns Andrei, cred ca de la Gicu imi stii canalul de plante, urmaresc si pe cel al lui Todd dar mai rar caci n-am destul timp sa ma uit la toate canalele care-mi plac. Bonzaii sunt foarte dragalasi dar multa munca la ei si arta, le place sa aiba lumina deasupra, eu am incercat unul in fereastra si nu i-a mers deloc bine.

@@imadethis8953 Trebuie replantați ăștia cumpărați din magazine că stau în sol foarte prost drenat, se sufocă și în scurt timp mor.

I hope that you have learned how important it is to wear a protective mask. Inhaling the dust is very dangerous to your health. It is a beautiful result though
