Dry Fly Fishing - GORGEOUS Aussie stream straight out of Middle Earth…

Спорт

Dry fly fishing for trout in a beautiful river is about as good as it gets in my book. This stunning Australian stream in North East Victoria is home to some lovely rainbow trout, they might not be huge, but they can sure make you work for them at times! What better way to spend a day than fishing up this gorgeous valley with a good mate....

    Thanks mate, yeah it’s a beauty! I’ve previously found it very easy fishing there but this day was super tough. Stewie and the Spanish guys even were struggling a bit too…just too warm in the middle of the day I reckon.

    Thanks as usual Peachy. I’ve had more doughnuts this year for sure, but wouldn’t not go fishing just cause they are fussy or not biting. Being out there is 90% of it. Good you got some. Looking forward to our next flick together: 👍👍👍

    Magic footage Steve, what an awesome place that was. I watch all of your videos and you catch a lot more fish than I do but fly fishing is...well, it just is ! I'm a pretty bad fly fisher, very ordinary self taught caster, who only uses his own poorly tied flies and I wouldn't have it any other way. After 25 + years of trying, admittedly mostly from Sydneys rocks, I have caught 3 trout, all rainbows, one in the Fish River on a Potscrubber nymph and two in Thompsons Creek Dam on my Simonaleecha balanced leech pattern (named after my wife who picked it out for me to use)...both flies are now retired in my hat band. As much as I enjoy lawn bowls it's not time to give up the fly rod yet. Cheers Steve, top vid.

    Hi. Greetings from Colorado. You did an amazing job capturing that beautiful stream. I’d have been fishing a single dry too. Maybe tie in a small unweighted nymph off the bend of the dry. RS2 emerger comes to mind.

  • @PeachyFlyFishing

    @PeachyFlyFishing

    Thanks! Yeah funnily enough I didn’t have any luck at all on the nymph that day, I had a little #18 pheasant tail which normally does the job, but I did better with the single dry. Thanks for watching, Colorado looks beautiful! :)

    @@PeachyFlyFishingYes. An 18 or 20 PT is definitely a go to at the end of many of my rigs. Is the RS2 used down under? It’s a Colorado legend for fussy trout. I like 20’s in grey, black, bright green.

    You really are raising the bar on production quality - every scene in this latest video was perfectly framed and clear - audio quality was also top notch - thanks for sharing Steve - were you fishing your Hanak Superb XP 10’ 3wt with an LTX 3/4 and a floating line (instead of your normal Euro Nymph setup on this same rod?) - if so, it shows what great dry fly rods these long Euro Nymph rods can be…

  • @PeachyFlyFishing

    Thanks Rob! Yes it was the Hanak but it’s a 9’6” #3 weight, slightly better length for dry fly although 10’ still works well :)
