    That moisture meter tells you the moisture content based on wet weight, but the moisture value that you need for this calculation is based on dry weight. The dry-based moisture content will be higher than the wet-based moisture value that you used, leading to a lower calculated value for your percent compaction.

    Thank you for providing this video. Small correction need in the end calculations i.e The moisture content what we got is w.r.t bulk soil(Wt), from this we have to calculate moisture content w.r.t soil solids from the formula w= Wt/(1-Wt). Which we use in dry density formula r/(1+w). We will get 98.47% compaction petcentage

    Soils can experience over-compaction if the compactor makes too many passes over it. In fact, relative soil compaction test results over 100% do not necessarily mean over-compaction because the relative compaction is based on the maximum dry density of the soil obtained by the Proctor test and this does not necessarily refer to absolute maximum dry density. Over-compaction is considered undesirable because it may eventually create cracks in the underlying compacted material so that it results in a decrease in density. Moreover, it causes waste of machine power and manpower which is undesirable
