Great video Matt, I can attest to all these uses of the dry bag. Used the old original 30 liter to collect water off my tarp during a rain storm at the Coastal Survival Class a few years back and also used one as a flotation device for a water crossing at one of the old SAN shoots.

Good video Matt, I've been using dry bags for years and they should always be considered as a viable bag option, especially when they come with shoulder straps. Here is another good use for dry bags: I attach them (heavy duty bags) to my front and rear bicycle racks to keep my gear dry and organized, especially when I'm bikepacking for multiple days!

Something I’ve been doing with my 20L is using it to keep my sleeping bag dry on the back of my Savotta pack in wet weather camping. It doesn’t seem to be much bulkier or heavier than a thick wool blanket. It also adds great multi-functionality around camp, especially for stowage at night.

I have several of the old camouflage Pathfinder dry bags. To my embarrassment on several occasions my canoe has become completely swamped by waves in storms. The 20 litre dry bag, once emptied, has done sterling service to quickly bail the water back out of the canoe. Unfortunately it now has a leak which I must find and patch.

Awesome video. Another food use could be for cold foods. If you want to bring eggs, milk, meats or other perishables, put ice in with the cold items to keep them cold, especially in warm to hot weather. Stay safe and be well. Thanks for sharing.

I own both those bags and love them. I wish a 30L was offered like that 20L. I own a 115L Seal Line that is back pack style, but that's too big. That 20L is damn near perfect. Just wanna be able to include a winter load out sleeping bag in it.

Looks like some good stuff. Just a tip, don’t ever throw your bag over a limb, get a rock or something that doesn’t matter if you get it stuck in a tree and tie that to your throw line. Nothing like trying to yank your food bag off a catch point and ripping your bag open. Like the 20 liter size.

Thanks for posting this! I’ve been looking into buying some dry bags to keep my kit dry in my 3 day assault pack that I bought for bushcraft and camping trips. I’m not in the military. I just like that style of pack due to the quality, space and durability. I’m just wondering, would a 10 L bag fit an extra pair of 32”,32” pants in them? I think my other spare clothing I can roll tight enough to fit. I’m mainly not sure about the spare pants.

Thanks for the great information. Would dry bags also be useful for collecting tinder? Or would it collect moisture from the tinder and make all of it damp. I live in South Carolina and the humidity matches the high temperatures on some days in the summer.

Seems like an excellent, versatile product no doubt. Thinking may be just the thing to carry my video and/or trail-cam gear to and from the stand. However, my first thought when you put on the 20 as a pack, great idea btw, was how the buckles appeared to be right where the weight would deliver the most pain, or very close to there. Seems to me even on a short hike, like the ones you mentioned, may be some discomfort. In addition, wearing it while kayaking samey-samey. I can't get past that for my purpose. Am I missing something?
