So he studies her very seriously to make her his. She’s so new to him and he analyses her words, behaviours and intentions. Not to kill or take out, but to keep and protect. To make her need and want him too. Her words must have pained him in his attempts to be with her. At the same time she’s so unapologetic free with him. Kneading his face. Imagine how he wanted to take her home in his strong arms, looking at her, from the carriage. And she struggled and crawled on his back, wanting him to piggyback her and use him as her pony. Holding on to him with all her strength, pressing into his back, letting her wine scented breath warm his neck, her thighs around his hips and her feet crossed bouncing, with every step, on the nether parts of his body. No one ever did or would or dared, so this is pretty serious, this precious load attached to him, playing with him, setting him askew. Unafraid, vulnerable, stubborn, intelligent, so filled with dreams and desires, unspoiled, not yet his.

Plus, he’s angry. She just escaped his “well” guarded in-laws home, deceiving him and his men by simply crawling over a wall, out of his control, to drink alcohol to escape his attempts of wooing and protecting her. He knows very well, that everybody that knows and hates him will go after her as his weak spot.
