I'm a guitarist from just outside of New Orleans and I've played with and have friends who were pals with Phil and they all say he's smarter and more reasonable than he lets on. One of those guys is my pal & ex drummer Terry. He was drum tech for Down for years and became friends with Phil. He said Phil was always thoughtful and hospitable. To make him violent, you'd prob have to disrespect him or one of his friends and still, he'd prob first warn you to "Walk" or beg you to swing at him. Phil seems to value self control and besides, he's prob weary of being sued again.(But I still wouldn't suggest disrespecting him).

Phil is blasted by loser opportunists who love seeing others fuck up so they can talk shit. As if they have never made a mistake a day in their life. People judge real hard till its their ass on the line, then suddenly Oh no, there are exceptions in my situation. Bullshit. We live we learn and move on. I dont agree with phil on many things or choices that he has made for himself, but he has shown his tegrets and expressed them so. There is nothing morel a man can do. Take or leave it.

Every time the camera cuts, Phil has opened and finished a new beer.

He was always like this. There are plenty of stories telling how Pantera wouldnt leave some place until they had signed every last autograph there was to be signed. Holy shit l wish he came down to my country one day!!

Every metal head has a special place in their heart for this guy. Rita just said on Instagram the other day that Phil is welcome anytime. I think it would do Phil some good to go to Texas and spend some time reminiscing with Rita.

Met him in 2018. Best meet n greet ever. Hugged me and his wife took like 5 pictures of us on my cell phone. We did a boxers fist up pose which was his idea.Than he gave me some posters. I'll never forget it. I framed the pics with the signed poster after developing them at a Walgreens lol. He also signed my Trendkill vinyl cover and put " To Andy- Be Cool ! "

Phil s always been great to the fans, great guy, his personal shit, like drinking and else, is just that, his personal shit.

+AdoreYouInAshXI I suffer from chronic pain with an injury almost identical to his. What sucks the most, is the day after day after day of going to bed in pain, only to wake up in more pain. Picture someone pinching you every second of every day. It doesn't matter how hard they are pinching you. Over time it will drive you nuts. That's what he lives with. Great comment btw.

MyworstEnemy I too deal with chronic pain in my neck and back. I know how bad it sucks too and I'm sorry you have it as well. It sucks to only be 30 years old and have to sit up slowly in bed every morning and wait 15-20 minutes for the pain to subside enough to get up. I feel like I have the body of an 80 year old man. And I only see it getting worse. Thanks for the response though.

AdoreYouInAshXI I truly empathize with your condition AdoreYouInAshXI. I broke my back when I was 34, and like you, I feel like an unhealthy 80 year old. I wish I had an answer, or something positive to tell you. I've had surgeries, procedures, acupuncture, devices, meds and even natural remedies with no relief, or temporary relief. I'm going to try bio feedback next week. Have you tried it?

***** I'm not sure what physical pain Phil actually suffers from. The other gentleman here was the one who commented on that. As for your marijuana comment, I used to smoke all the time but it started not agreeing with me in my mid 20's and now it just makes me feel like shit. Maybe if it was legal in my state and there were dispensaries available where I could pick and try different strains, I could find something that works.

I've seen this countless times and it surprises me how often people get it wrong, Phil isn't drunk he's jetlagged.

I think Phil might have been "hard to deal with" at one point in his legendary career, but all I see of late is a mellower, kinder version of "the kid"...his interviews are wonderful and insightful, and you can tell he has a good head on his shoulders. If you want to see an example of how nice he can be, look up the interview with the young boy who is about 10 years old...you can tell the boy is somewhat nervous at first and Phil gets him to relax and laugh a little...great interview. I realize he has had his tough times but dammit who hasn't? All that shit he went through made him who he is and I dig the guy. Rock on, Phil!

Im a TRUE pantera fan..Been hardcore from CFH til the split.Saw them 9 times over the year's, backstage on the far beyond and trendkill tours.. Phil was cool when he kept his mouth shut outside of the mic bcus he was a conceded cocky prick taking all the credit like his bloated head always has,then he would gracefully disappear to go shoot up and have nothing to do with the band/fans the rest of the night..He didn't give AF about Dime b4 he died so those fake ass sob videos he made after just proves how much of a douchebag he really is. Us real Pantera fans didnt buy into his bs then and we still don't now but yeah you're right, "truly a heart of gold"🙄
