@Michael Ransom I heard that as, keep working on your craft and the intellectual side of your creative ventures. With that cultivated skill and the knowledge you gain from also approaching it cerebrally you won't have anything to fear because you're doing the things you need to do to remove doubt and increase your abilities which will give you more confidence

What a beast of a player. Ironically, I've always sensed Novak's beastliness is in large part due to how relaxed he is in the way he plays which produces deep grooves and staggering power (and speed)... all appearing seemingly effortless. A total beast. One of the very best.

Every track I’ve ever heard Gary play on is better because of him being there. ie I just can’t imagine them sounding as good with someone else at the drums.

Gary played with Larry Carlton on 12/4/21 at The Velvet Note, along with Ernest Tibbs (bass), Mark Stephens (keys), Mark Douthit (sax) and Barry Green (trombone)...amazing, fun performance.

You're a master when there are no discrepancies between conception of an idea and the anatomy's ability to pull it off on a whim. If you're on a stage with the likes of a Chick Corea or Michel Camilo, then you're more than likely the best musicians to ever live.

I came acroos Gary while watching an Allan Holdsworth concert (I play guitar) ... As the ambitious guitar player I am, I tried to get into Holdsworth's ideas, harmonically and rhythmically ...I never digged Allan's ideas, they were to complex, but than Garry came in and I suddenly could relate to Allan's ideas, things got clear, at least rhythmically ...
