DRUMFORGE: THE MOST MIX-READY DRUM SAMPLER? Drumforge Classic Review & Demo (Preset Included)

Музыка

Drumforge Classic is a drum sampler and a drum sample library in one plugin that is marketed to be powerful, realistic sounding, mix-ready and lightweight. Using a metal original I wrote, I did a full mix and master with the drum mixing only done inside the Drumforge sampler to see how far it can take me in a dense metal song with high gain guitars and heavy limiting. Based on my experience, I reviewed Drumforge Classic, listed pros and cons, and offered my thoughts on who Drumforge Classic is for.

    Great review buddy, agree with pretty much everything! I just wanted to point out that you actually have raw samples available on the "drum fader page" below the panner. There's a toggle between P (processed) and UP (unprocessed)! Also I think the reason MIDI map is set up "upside down" is that DAWs like Cubase and Studio One have GM drum map which is that way. I never use piano roll to map drums. Drumforge has been my favourite sampler ever since it came out, though I haven't tried many others out there. :)

    You are totally right about the unprocessed samples. Thanks for pointing that out! I don't remember Cubase's map to go upside down like that when I was using Cubase 5 long time ago. They should probably make an option to flip it around.

    Bought this, made some minor tweaks on the kick and added some samples from Drumshotz Luke Holland and it is hands down the best metalcore kit you can get that sits in a mix perfectly. Picked up Drumforge for 49$ with a coupon and 5$ for the preset. It’s a no brainer in my opinion.

    Hey man thanks so much for the support and the positive feedback! So happy to hear that the preset is working out for you :) Great choice with adding some one shot samples. I wanted to do it for the preset (since I have the Drumshotz mega bundle) but decided against it since not everyone has the Drurmshot samples.

    I do completely get most of your points, but if you have listened to Joey, you know he is a BIG advocate of reading the manual.

  • @JamesZhan

    @JamesZhan

    3 жыл бұрын

    I know he is, and I disagree with his opinion. From a UX design standpoint, interactive interfaces, like computer programs and smartphone apps, should be intuitive enough to use without the need of reading a manual. Now, some plugin manuals explain the design concept and sonic characteristics of the plugin, and that's helpful information, but the user shouldn't need to read the manual in order to learn how to operate the interface.

    @@JamesZhan very good point. I do think that while there is an entertainment aspect to audio work, it is still a specialized trade, and anyone who operates in a trade should know their tools and exactly what they do, and should make an effort to read what the manufacturer says about it. My two cents though. I agree with DF making their products more intuitive though. God bless and have a great day.

    @@JamesZhan you mean the bleed from one shell to the next shell or from say, snare to hi-hat? I agree, but I don't know any sampler that does that. Seems like you have done quite a few GGD videos, but I'm pretty certain you can't achieve that in GGD either. However, you can still adjust the bleed into the OH/room mics individually for each drum.
