I was born in Drumchapel in 1961, I left in 1977 to join the military. I went to Stonedyke and then Waverley, remember Margaret Christie, Leslie Alexandra and Robert Hay, and many others. I've had a fabulous life, many great adventures. The 'Drum' was a hard place to live, but you don't know that until you leave. i took my son back when he was about 10, he couldn't believe it, but it had changed since 77, a lot more rundown. The people still as friendly and positive as always.

That was pretty emotional! It had changed a lot since I left in 1972. Happy to see a glimpse of Rozelle Avenue at 4.52. Thanks for the memories!

wow, really emotional. my gran lived in the high flat facing the shopping centre and unfortunately she took her own life there in 1982. I remember the shopping centre well as a kid, the pick n mix at Woolies, Arnotts, the bowling green.! thanks for sharing this. x

I lived on Drummore Road through the 80s and went to Pinewood. Left Scotland 89 just as I started Waverley. I have mainly good memories of Drumchapel. Was a good place with mainly good people. Certainly down my end was nice. The “HILL” seemed less so. My mum tells me we lived there for a while, but as a toddler, an old man hit me on the head with a cup because I was sat at the door. Maybe explains a lot 😂 I spent so much of my childhood in Bluebell woods. Wouldn’t be able to do that these days.

I remember my friend lived at the bottom of Ladyloan. I went round to visit and someone had set fire to a motorbike. Kids were taking it to the top of the hill and riding down. It had not tyres, saddle or brakes. It was amazing fun. Can’t believe we did that.
